This is a Euro08 topic I know there is a thread but this isnt exactly about the football its about how me and maybe others feel about these euros.

Ok so England werent in it that probably had something to do with the euros feeling so short, because I can't remember them being a month long, guess thats what happens when you miss the hype...

But thats not my point I'm not bashing the euros because England arent in them so, but does it feel as if they have been very boring. I mean I can't remember a moment that........well that I can remember. Like in WorldCup06, you had amazing moments like "Did you see Lahms goal in the first match, and Fringes goal" theres no moments like that, I can't remember seeing an amazing goal or an amazing moment that would stick in everyones head.

It feels as if theres no spark in this, I don't know why this is but it just does might be something to do with England not being in it but it still seems like a very boring tourny. The final also seems boring I'd rather see German v Russia than Germany v Spain them two teams have like little to no history its not one of them matches that clash if you get me.

Heck I'd be happy with Turkey vs Russia (ok maybe not) But urgh tell me how you guys feel about it?

The general opinion is that this is the best international tournament for many years. Ruud van Nistelrooy's controversial goal against Italy will always be shown. The moments to remember are Poland being denied victory against Austria by a late penalty, the Netherlands' breathtaking football in the group stages, David Villa's hattrick against Russia, Russia pipping Sweden to second spot, Turkey's remarkable comeback against the Czech Republic and Turkey's remarkable victory in the quarter finals.

Van Nistelrooys goal wasn't controversial, the Italian defender was injured after colliding with his own goalkeeper, meaning that even though he was off the pitch he was still active. Van Nistelrooy had the Keeper and that active defender in front of him, therefore not off-side, and not controversial.

I know the rule, it was controversial though, because looking at it the rule is a crazy one and not even the pundits knew about it. It is no longer controversial because Italy still reached the quarter finals.

Er, Ballacks goal sticks in my head, Netherlands in the group stages were awesome and exciting... Have you honestly been watching the same event or are you just suffering from Englandlessness?

this is what seperates the true football fans from the others. The true football fans admire and love the great football been played.

It's been a great tournament and since there's no England there's no talking us up as World beaters if we beat Switzerland and then be disappointed when we go out to penalties against Portugal. The football (bare Italy and Greece and France) has been entertaining and of the highest class.

This has been an awesome tournament. Ballack's freekick against Austria was my personal favourite although I really liked Nihat's curling shot to win the game against the Czechs.

-Balack's goal
-Robben's goal
-Arshavin's cross for Russia's winning goal in the QF
-Ronaldo not lifting the trophy
-McLaren getting the sack as a reslut of Englnd's crapness

All of those add up to make this the bets tournament in my opinion since either the 98 or 2002 world cup.

I guess I'm suffering from Englandlessness then. KP I ment the final will be boring one way or another in my point of view anyway, I would have liked to see Germany vs Italy :D

I havnt even been watching all the matches, the one match that I did really enjoy though was Italy vs Romania. I wouldnt say this has been the best tourny since 98 or 02, I think W06 was good, fun atmosphere (good weather over here) etc etc.

Oh yeah I wouldnt consider myself a true football fan, I'm not in the "football mood" maybe when FIFA comes out :D

Which planet are you on? This has been one of the best tournaments for absolutely ages!! And I very much doubt the final will be boring, whoever meets Germany there.

What part of the first sentence didnt you read on my last post in this thread? :D

Sorry, the current final which hasn't been drawn yet will be boring, yet you'd want to watch Germany vs ITALY for entertainment value? If you read that again and stick with your opinion then LOL, but if you really need to reassess that opinion. Italy are possibly the most boring side in the competition, worse than even Greece. Germany aren't particularly exciting either. Holland v Spain would be an immense final. I think Germany vs Spain will be decent, if Spain get passed Russia of course.
