I agree that Brendon McCullum could do it. Especially on the postage stamp sized grounds in New Zealand, but NZ wickets aren't roads.

I'd say it'd happen in a World Cup and it'll be a top ranked country against a minow(Associate)

India are becoming absolutely lethal in ODI and Twenty20. But I wouldn't put Australia, NZ and SAF too far back.

I think sehwag can easily make double hundred in odis.

Also chances are to make a double century in an ODI they'll more than likely have to bat the entire if no most of the full 50 Overs so that'll take some stamina. No that an opener batting the full 50 overs hasn't happened before.

I seriously doubt Tendulkar here, his age factor kicks in once he's crossed 150. Had it been the 2003 WC era, I'd say yes, but I highly doubt now. He could've done it against Namibia in 2003 WC but then Ganguly had to take his fair share of balls and get a 100 aswell..

An innings like 200 either needs full fledged, mindless slogging, or a very carefully structured innings - the latter being very difficult. There's no middle way out.

I'd think Chris Gayle could be the man, going by his century in the first ever match of IPL :p Or Gibbs ofcourse. As Syl pointed out he had the best chance by far, but I guess he put the team before himself there.

Dhoni? No chance, he bats way to responsibly now lol. Sehwag? Maybe, but I'd want to see atleast 150 first sometime...

Pieterson sometime back could've done it, not really sure now.

I'd say Shahid Afridi with his slogging would have a chance, but Pakistan's international cricket is mostly over now for a while...

I really have a strong feeling we'll be seeing VERY high scores this year in IPL, something along the lines of much more frequent 100's and 150's. A 200 in IPL is something I'd only believe if I saw.

David Warner. :D

How funny would it be if someone scored a double-ton in 20/20 before 50 over cricket.

Mate, surely that would happen..... as McCullum got 158 vs RCB at such a big ground (Banglore Chinnaswami Stadum) if for next elections, IPL transfers to New Zealand, someone like McCullum or Symonds or Warner or Gayle could do that one....

BTW Gibbs had a greatest chance than any others.
He came up with 175 of nearly 25 overs and he had got nearly (atleast) 20 overs in which 25 runs was not a great problem...

You're aware that the next elections are after 5 years, aren't you? You're in India right?

He was actually Brendon McCullum

I personally think players like Yuvraj,Gibbs and Gayle have more change to score double. They makes run fast and also stays for long time

Sachin,Sehwag and KP Have possiblity to get to that mark Hope it is Sachin:happy

Possibly Chris Gayle or Virender Sehwag

The way Chris Gayle or Virender Sehwag are blasting opposition. It is only a matter of time one of them will reach the milestone of an ODI double hundred.

Afridi once said its his dream to cross 200....but surely it willl remain his dream they way he is playing these days....but i will still go for him.....37 ball hundred is seriously not a joke..but again he is in horrible form with the bat

btw here are the list of players who got Most runs in an inings

Cricinfo - Records - List A matches - Most runs in an innings

9 players have already crossed the 200 runs barrier (in Domestics)
latest was by Khalid Latif of Pakistan in a domestic game....
