Which foreign player would complete your national side

Did he win it for them? :sarcasm

There's a difference between getting close and winning the game :clap.

Dhoni wins games :clap

The same thing can be used to negate all of Sachin's performances. Just because his side couldn't pull through for him doesn't devalue his efforts as a player. His team was CHASING 400, he was the perfect springboard for Lanka.

90 off 43 balls is an amazing feat considering the pressure he was under. His keeping is plenty better and he is a much better test batsman too.

It's nature at it's work - thread evolution. ;)

Another player i'd like to see for India is Dwayne Bravo. What an absolute lift in the fielding that would be, plus talismanic performances with both bat and ball.

People fail to realize that since Kapil, not only have we missed an out and out fast bowler but an allrounder as well. We haven't had ONE quality allrounder since Kapil. Having that pivotal player at 6 or 7 would boost our team balance SO much.

Jadeja and Yuseless aren't doing it for me. The answer may lie in Abhishek Nayar but he's having a horrendous season plus the selectors don't seem to have much faith in him.

Australia ideally need a leggie, not an offie. offspinners get crucified on australian grounds. None of their best spinners have been offies. murali, Vettori, harbhajan all failed to get decent stats.

Kumble on the other hand has been relatively succesful. (and unbelievably the most succesful sri lankan spinner this decade was Chandana, in a single 2 test series took 12 wickets, again a leggie)

For that reason, and because Mendis isn't a true leggie, I'd pick Kaneria.

Pakistan really need two classy openers,Gambhir and Smith will work for us.

I will pick Anderson for Nehra and someone like Sangakkara for India. Anderson has a decent ablity of moving the bowl both ways. Infact his inswinger to a right handed batsman deserves applause.

Sangakkara as purely a batsman is fine. If he is coming in as a wicketkeeper batsman, then Dhoni is just fine for us because he is captain, batsman and keeper and does all of it very well.

Sanga > Dhoni

I would take Flintoff in his prime. Great bowler and a good batsman too.

Yeah, but not as if we would be better off if we swap Sanga for Dhoni. For one, our captaincy would become bad if Sanga was our captain. He is not a good captain. If Dhoni decides to do the big hits, he can still be one of the most destructive in the world and thats something India should always have in reserves. As a keeper, Dhoni is reliable enough behind the stumps.

It would not make sense for India to use their 1 pick for a batsman when they have the likes of Sehwag, Gambhir, Sachin, Dravid, VVS and Dhoni. Is there really a need for another batsman? I think it would be better of dropping a seamer for Steyn than dropping Dhoni or one of the other batsman for Sanga

Steyn would just be a ordinary bowler if he was full time in the subcontinent. Asif is a much better choice.

Steyn has 15 wickets @ 20 in India
9 wickets @ 24 in Pakistan
8 wickets @ 36 in Sri Lanka
14 wickets @ 12 in Bangladesh

Those are pretty good stats for a seamer in the subcontinent, also in India, Sri Lanka and Pak his Strike rate is in the 30s and in Bangladesh its 26!

Relly? Those two pitches in Sri Lanka where Asif picked up 17 wickets were a fast bowlers dream, the ball was moving all over the place. But his record in Pakistan is very, very average. 25 wickets at 42.

8 of his 15 wickets in India came on that dream of a pitch where South Africa bundled out India for 79.
Yea he is probably better then most others in the subcontinent but I would still take someone like Asif. With the pitches as they are there Asif can get more use out of them.

Yea but he was relying on seam not swing, much more useful on subcontinent pitches.

I would like to have sehwag open for Pakistan and Kallis for his batting in middle order and his slip catching.
