Australia's Brett Lee injured. To miss ICC World T20 2010

Brett-Lee_4.jpg

Australia's pace attack spearhead Brett Lee injured his right knee while the practice session at St. Lucia. The injury isn't much to worry, but it'll keep Lee out of the World T20. Brett Lee has been out of form for some time, so it might prove to be a blessing in disguise for the Australian team. Doctors suggest that a rest of minimum 5 weeks would be necessary

Doug Bollinger has been declared the one who'll be replacing Brett Lee for the tournament.

Ian Butler rattles Sri Lanka.
Ryder - McCullum provide New Zealand a platform for a comprehensive victory.

It was the inaugural match of the ICC World T20 2010. Sri Lanka won the toss and elected to bat Kapugedara and Dilshan came out to bat, but, it was the storm of Ian Butler which completely shaked the Lankan batsmen. Kapugedara was adjudged LBW off Butler on 7 and Jayasuriya was given LBW on 4. Jayasuriya too was the target of Butler. Then came in the Lanka skipper Kumar Sangakkar but Butler didn't stop. He striked the timber and Sangakkara was back to the pavilion for just 1. Dilshan then played a responsible innings along with Jayawardene's blitzering knock of 76 giving the Lankan bowlers something to defend.

After a bad start in the batting, the Lankan bowlers too couldn't do much. Brendon McCullum and Jesse Ryder were the men on crease. Ryder played a typical "Jesse Ryder" knock striking 55 of just 34. McCullum supported him well, but, as soon as Ryder departed, it was the show of the T20 Specialist, Brendon McCullum. The trump card and the vice - captain of Sri Lanka, Muttia Muralitharan was sent all over the park. He bowled just 3 overs with an ER of nearly 13. In the end, New Zealand clinched an easy victory in just 18.3 overs with 9 wickets remaining.
