England look a really good unit going into the world cup after a long time, they have settled batting line up, Quality pace bowlers and a world class spinner.

Squad Andrew Strauss (Middlesex, capt), James Adams (Hampshire), James Anderson (Lancashire), Ian Bell (Warwickshire), Ravi Bopara (Essex), Tim Bresnan (Yorkshire), Stuart Broad (Nottinghamshire), Paul Collingwood (Durham), Alastair Cook (Essex), Steven Davies (Surrey), Jade Dernbach (Surrey), Steven Finn (Middlesex), James Hildreth (Somerset), Craig Kieswetter (Somerset), Michael Lumb (Hampshire), Eoin Morgan (Middlesex), Samit Patel (Nottinghamshire), Kevin Pietersen (Surrey), Liam Plunkett (Durham), Matt Prior (Sussex), Adil Rashid (Yorkshire), Ajmal Shahzad (Yorkshire), Darren Stevens (Kent), Graeme Swann (Nottinghamshire), James Tredwell (Kent), Chris Tremlett (Surrey), Jonathan Trott (Warwickshire), Chris Woakes (Warwickshire), Luke Wright (Sussex), Michael Yardy (Sussex)

Probable 15 should be:

Andrew Strauss*
Steven Davies†
Jonathan Trott
Kevin Pieterson
Ian Bell
Paul Collingwood
Eoin Morgan
Tim Bresnan
Greame Swann
Stuart Broad
James Anderson

Chris Woakes,Ajmal Shahzad,Michael Yardy,Kieswetter(Reserve keeper)

I seriously hope Luke Wright isn't selected as he is quite over rated and has never really contributed enough with bat or ball.

Any reason for not including Tim Bresnan? he is pretty useful with bat and also he really bowled well in the Ashes which shows he's in good form.

Oops. Just forgot him. i guess I'll have him in place of Shehazad. But Bresnan is quite unpredictable. At time he can be ████ and get hammered all the way. Also Broad and Swann can contribute with the batt

This will be my 15 for the WC :

Andrew Strauss *
Steve Davies +
Alastair Cook (mind you , he is tremendous in SC tracks)
Ian Bell
Kevin Pietersen
Jonathan Trott
Paul Collingwood
Eoin Morgan
Luke Wright
Michael Yardy
Tim Bresnan
Stuart Broad
Graeme Swann
Chris Woakes
James Anderson

If Cook doesn't make the cut , i have no choice but to opt for an extra bowler in Shahzad .

Broad
Anderson

Trott
Kieswetter
Tremlett
Woakes - It will be interesting to see how Waokes batting contiues to go as the tour of AUS progesses. Since he already looks more technically sound that Wright, so if he keeps improving - he has to go to the WC.

Yardy and Bresnan both in one lineup is a disaster IMO. Yardy will get smashed a Bresnan will surely give over an over. Also if England are somewhat 100/5 then atleast some specialist batsmen would have done more good than yardy

with Shahzad, Prior, Trott and Patel/Rashid as reserves.

My only reason for including Patel/Rashid is because the sub-continent tend to turn a bit, so another All-Round Spinner might be useful.

Although Yardy's batting @ 7 certainly isn't yet very assuring. His bowling has proven to be very capable 5th bowling option, so for now that is not a worry for England. So until/if it becomes a worry, then we should worry about that.

Bresnan also if fine ATM, although i can understand why some may still be pessimistic about his position in the team.

well, I really think they should be looking at taking 2 front line spinners. Spin is likely to be very effective, and Swann and Yardy is not enough, you can really tie a team down in the middle overs with good spin. Yardy's alright, but he's not great and 20 overs of spin could feel inadequate.

Pietersen can provide a couple of overs I guess, but he's not quite as an effective back-up option as some of the sub-continental guys (who all seem to have 2 or 3 batsmen capable of turning their arm over to some effect) or duminy or hussey. KP is very, very part-time. 2 or 3 overs max, I think you want the potential to bowl 30 overs of spin in some matches.

I'd go with this squad for the upcoming WC. You know, they're playing good cricket and they may want to keep going with that form in this World Cup. They've got a fantastic team and I don't see why they can't. The batting didn't really fire in this T20 all the way down but still they tried to get a win in the first odi which is just 1 wicket victory and imo, it's not enough.

Strauss *
Kieswetter †
Pietersen
Bell
Collingwood
Morgan
Bresnan
Swanny
Broad
Anderson
Woakes

Tremlett ; Prior ; Yardy ; Shahzad.
