Give it to me straight

Another thing i do (massive sad w--ker alert)... Make a story... Play with your favourite players and build something around that. I have hardly ever played with current gen teams (except career) - i much rather play with WSC teams, the SA rebel teams, try and avoid the "blackwash" against 1984 Windies, that sort of thing.

Right now i'm taking my "Barbarians" on a tour of Africa, I set up the tour calendar in the academy: playing a odi and 3 dayer against uganda, odi and t20 against namibia, triangular odi with zimbabwe and kenya, 3 match t20 and test series against zimbabwe and 4 dayer against kenya... So while i'm really wussing out and playing against shit teams while my bowling improves, in my head i'm telling a story about how i'm a billionaire cricket-loving philanphropist who has exhumed/cloned players like bart king, tom hayward and wilf rhodes and have taken them to show the colonials how to play the game.

Very true. I've been reading Damien Fleming's book Bowlology (a VERY light read but got a few nice anecdotes and laughs) and it made me remember just how much I loved that older generation of Australian cricketers. Not that I don't love some of the current guys, but that consistency was remarkable.

With Bradman 14 you finally have the ability to play with those guys, and many other generations of other nations.

When I get back from Chile (I do have a 360 controller with me and the temptation to install bootcamp on my mac and play Bradman is very high!) I think I'll replay the 1999 World Cup semi between Australia and South Africa :)

Ok....I am playing casual games as random teams...just batting. Played games on Rookie level and yes, managed to knock the ball around ok. However the games A/I chooses the footwork for you irrespective of what I choose with the left stick. Then a few games on Amateur level and A/I again still gives plenty of batting assistance with footwork (managed to play backfoot late cut to fastie when I actually chose a front foot square drive with the l and r sticks) the negative being it wasn't the shot I intended to play but plus side an ungainly looking swipe saved my wicket. At what skill level is batting completely unassisted?

Pro is the best. Takes patience and practice.

I wouldn't say batting is 'completely unassisted' at any level, on all levels there is some assistance - e.g. LS forward and RS left will do a leg glance to a full delivery but a pull shot to a short one, this sort of thing is entirely necessary though.

On Rookie/Amateur, you don't need to use the left stick but on Pro and above you do, I'm not sure if there are any differences in assistance on Veteran/Legend except stricter limits on timing/shot selection which I prefer.

Pro mode v fast/med fast bowler.

Play shot with only r stick forward...leave l stick alone and don't press defence modifier = front foot defensive shot every time.
Left stick generally does choose what foot shot you input it......with occasional lapses.

Seems kind of a strange question Terry. I think if you don't enjoy the game as it is, maybe this isn't the game for you. If you don't care about results, maybe sports games in general aren't for you!

That, but i would put it a little more gently... Maybe u might eventually come to enjoy the game, but lemme tell u, the 1st time i played the game, i was like: THIS IS AWESOME!!! I just loved everything about it, simply because (for me) it had thrashed and absolutely just bested every other cricket game i had played... Even if that didnt happen for u, it does not necessarily mean that u cant still enjoy it...[DOUBLEPOST=1406925240][/DOUBLEPOST]

I Second that

I didn't mean this to sound harsh, apologies if it sounded this way. Its just that the game is what it is, and if you can't find enjoyment in it, then maybe playing another game may be a better option. I was so excited for GTA V and it left me cold. So I completed the story, put it back in its box and played Skyrim again!

Aye. You're probably right. Will wait to see if a patch No3 is released.....otherwise it's a listing on *bay.

I don't think there will be any major overhaul of game play in a patch, but there may be some alterations. What is it exactly that you aren't enjoying? I mean, you say you aren't interested in doosras, but that's quite an exciting way of getting wickets in real cricket!

I'm with you on that, I was totally underwhelmed with the ridiculously laborious missions and I didn't bother finishing the game. Between GTA and the thoroughly, continuously underwhelming Assassins Creed games in think it's totally okay for some games just to not be "right" for some people. There's plenty of folks who love those games, just didn't inspire me in any way, certainly not to the same levels of incredible like DBC14.

I don't play GTA or Skyrim. All of my 360 games are sports games apart from one, which is Farming Simulator!
I play football/baseball/rugby/golf/snooker/horse racing/ice hockey/basketball and NFL.....most of which are more enjoyable and immersive than DB 14.

Thanks for changing the subject heading. Someone obviously has the power and I don't. :)
I don't like cider or pears though. :(

Do you like cricket?

Serious question, btw.
