Haven't seen all the movies so can't really state much. Looking at how the awards have gone so far Portman and Bale are a shoe in. Bale definitely deserves his one, outstanding in the Fighter.

Would have thought Inception would get more of a mention but being released so early hasn't helped.

Rey Reynolds should have got a nomination for his role in Buried. IMO it was better than 127 hours

I'd like to see Portman win, imo it would send the right sort of message.

I'd be confident that Bonham Carter is the best actor in Best Supporting Actress. I would GUESS that Bale or Rush would be the best of the supporting actors, and Bardem or Bridges of the leads.

But I certainly wouldn't be silly enough (or more accurately, have the requisite skills) to make predictions.:lol I only know about films - predictions are more about politics and Agatha Christie-style detective work. Psychic ability also comes in handy, of course.

I am hoping AR Rahman wins the Oscar for the Best Original Song ("If I Rise" - 127 Hours) but I am hearing that the competition this time is tougher for Rahman (than when he won the Oscars for Slumdog Millionaire).
