A big week in Cricket Games

This has been a big week in Cricket Games news, with a new Cricket Captain game, the first gameplay footage from Big Ant as well as an update to their Cricket Academy beta, and a drip feed from the Ashes Cricket 2013 camp as we get closer to the start of the series.

First up, International Cricket Captain 2013 was released this week, developers Childish Things say the 2013 game delivers an improved game engine aimed at delivering more realistic results in matches, as well as a variety of new game modes, including an ?all time greats? mode, which allows a player to make teams that span generations with historical cricketers and fulfil a lot of those what if questions. Obviously with no view to the timing of the release, the game also includes classic Australia vs England scenarios. The standard fare of statistic/roster updates and more round out this year?s offering.

The game is available for PC digital download for $23.99 (pricing may vary by region) and you can download a 2 day trial of the game here. Mac and iOS editions of the game are coming soon. You can see reactions to the game and discuss it in our International Cricket Captain Forum.

Second, Ashes Cricket 2013 is still without a release date, but two new images of the game have emerged. One from England Cricketer Stuart Broad who tweeted a photograph of him playing as himself in the game and another glimpse from The Cricketer magazine?s three-page advertising spread on the game, showing a new shot of ODI gameplay. At this hour we?re still awaiting the new weekly Q&A video that Trickstar CEO Mike Fegan started last week following an apology for the delay of the game. You can see last week?s Q&A here.

And finally, Big Ant Studios have released another update to their Cricket Academy editor. This new version enhances some graphical features and customisation options but mostly is notable for the addition of a Tour and Competition creator, slowly filling in more of the gaps between the Cricket Academy beta and the final game?s inclusions. Find out more and download the update here. This update also came with a new Easter egg, which redirects users to a timelapse of a day at one of the in game stadiums, showing off the detail of the stadiums as well as the weather and lighting effects.

Just a reminder finally that if you?re not active on the forums, we usually try and tweet all the latest details in cricket games news as they come to hand @PlanetCricket, so follow us there and keep up to date on the latest.
