AC09 (PC): Graphics bad

After installing JRE (Java runtime env) today, I went to play my favorite hair-pulling game. But the graphics are bad now! There is a stair-step effect that wasn't present before.

I tried system restore; updating my graphics driver; everything- adjusting the new graphics settings and nothing! No change! What's going on now?? How can I fix it?

This shows the bad effect and my settings.. Vid card is Asus EN8400GS (nVidia chipset). It's pci-e 2, so has no trouble with this level of graphics... Whatever I do, it can't change the ugly graphics...

Has this happened to someone before? Or what can be done to fix this?

Respect!

That's strange, normally anti-aliasing fixes problems of jaggedness but your settings look like they're fine. And anyway if any of the settings changed system restore should have fixed them.

I'm not sure what the problem could be. Hopefully someone else here knows how to fix it.

Thanks for replying Chewie.... I'm glad to know I'm not going crazy. I've tried everything- all kinds of settings, no change...

Actually, I think it may be because you've got anti-aliasing set to 'override any application setting'. If you change that option and let the game choose what happens?

Alright, I'll do that right now. Be back in a few!

Okay. I tried "Enhance the application setting" and also "let the application decide" and either way- it's like the settings aren't doing anything. Weirrrrrrrrrd!

Thank you for trying to help, I appreciate it!

You're welcome, hopefully someone else who knows a bit more about the game will come along and help you :) It's a rather puzzling situation. I did a quick google search for java run time environment and anti-aliasing and something was mentioned about that setting but it obviously hasn't made any difference. Oh well, someone will surely provide some more advice in the next day or so.

Thanks again Chewie, you've been great. Yeah, until then I'll make do. It's not bad enough to blind me yet! :]

Mhm- I did reinstall, Meet, but same effect... Just weird.

The problem is - Asus EN8400GS & its compatibility with the game! I don't think that EN8400GS is meant for gaming. It can support some games but at the medium resolutions.
