Pakistan on top
Sanjay: Hello and welcome back! the players have take drinks and were here to bring you the report. as reported earlier, India flirted with danger on 3 occassions but were able to come out of it still intact. 2 overs after the lunch break Sourav Ganguly survived a great shout for LBW, he was beaten by a slower ball and played the shot very early. Hawkeye confirmed the ball pitched just outside legstump and the correct decision was made:
India came out swining after the lunch break and got many runs through the off side. Laxman was dangerous once again pictured here launching a massive 6 over midwicket:
They also flirted with danger when Sourav was dropped on 8 an Laxman on 42 both by Saqlain Mushtaq in the slips. Lucky for Pakistan, Inzamam brought in Shahid Afridi in to the attack shortly after. After delivering one ball to Ganguly over the wicket, he changed sides and pitched one into the rough and got some massive turn (shades of Bangalore anyone
) This time Ganguly played a shot but he might as well have kept the bat in the air. Bowled middle stump. Notice the arrow weve added through the magic of tv showing just where the ball pitched:
FOW: Ganguly b Afridi 15(71)
Next Man: Partiv Patel
Shoaib Akhtar was brought back in the following over and bowled an excellent over to Laxman. the first ball stayed straight, the next was a slower ball and the next 2 balls both swung and pitched away. Shoaib then brought one ball back in very sharply and this caused Laxman to play to early and away from his body a thick outside edge to Moin behind the stumps and Pakistan finally got the one they were after.
FOW: Laxman c Moin b S Akhtar 45(118)
Next Man: Irfan Pathan
So Pakistan are into the tail and will be looking to mop them up quickly so they can start batting and post a good total on the board. Lets see how the rest of the session plays out. Ian and i will be back at tea, this is Sanjay Manjrekar wishing you a good afternoon.
