We played **** football for most of the early rounds, North Melbourne and Brisbane got narrow wins over us, Carlton got up by about 30 and the Hawks by 60. We were lucky that the Lions didn't click against us at the Gabba.
What happened to those Hawks? Aside from some bad kicking, in the 3rd they had about 5 shots at goal foe 1 goal 4. They'll bounce back though they are a very good side.
West Coast just seemed to die against the Cats, there was just no attempt at winning it was much like watching the Grand Final from last year, but worse. I am proud of the Pies though, we were flogged by the Hawks, beat the Cats, and lost by 10 against the Doggies taking into account we do not have a dangerous forward line, against the Doggies we were missing Davis, Fraser and Cloke, Dids was struggling apparently carrying an injury (there were reports before the game he was going to miss.)
I think the break has come at a good time for us, as it did last time, we have enough time to get players fit, we should have Presti back next week, though I am not sure how much use he will be, we will have Cloke, Fraser and Davis back in and will likely have Didak fitter gotta try and get Thomas into some form as well he was well down last week and against the Blues.
Wellingham is showing some promise, Nathan Brown isn't too bad for a young player, shame about Ben Reid he has not had much luck the last 2 seasons with injuries. Rocca's career is close to over, his season is over, and he's off to the states so I would assume he'd make a decision when he comes back about his future.
We really need a good strong backman, and a forward that can goal, we kick too many behinds, as it was shown against the Doggies, and many other sides not only last year but this season as well. If we can make the eight I am not sure we'd have the same ability as last season, unless we found the spark we had against the Cats, and had players in form.
I am not sold on us making the final 8, we have a good record against the Swans at Telstra Stadium, so if we can beat them and get a run we can make it.
