Goddamn hate this tournament, deems most African players useless on years when it's on.

Loved it in the past when Egypt played some great stuff with Hassan, Aboutreika, Zaki, Barakat and others in their side.

The last couple have been really poor quality wise though. Zambia winning the last one was a heart-warming story but the quality has really dropped in recent editions.

Its a good tournament, but its played too often & at times comes across as an irritant especially for major european teams that have top african players.

If it played ever 3-4 years like EURO or Copa America, it would have better prestige i think.

this, although this year it feels more often as they are switching it to synch out with other international competitions so it has been played consecutively, every 2 years is still too often though.

Looking at some of the teams in there aswell it seems almost clear that there are too many rubbish teams. Doesn't cape verde have a population of about 6 people? it's probably a side full of third rate portugese players who can't get a sniff at their national team.

Yeah loved those editions (2 of them, when Egypt won it back to back). Mohamed Zidan was phenomenal too.

Damn Ivory coast out, that very talented team seem destined to not win anything.

Seems like fate for Drogba. Some of the saves that El-Hadary made over the years against him were unbelievable.

Interesting to note that nigeria won the african cup without fairly notable players in their squad like taye taiwo, anichebe, yakubu, odemwinge, ameobi & joel obi.
