Any Improvements?

So, I want to make one post, about something slightly away from the thread title, although involving players from teams mentioned in the thread title, and I have to go and make a whole new thread about it, where it will be out of context, and then probably closed? That's makes very little sense to me, to be honest.

When the post can be made in that thread, without doing any damage whatsoever. If it was a whole load of posts or about something completely different, then I'd understand. But making a big deal out of something like I've mentioned is silly.

That is thread development, but can also be a thread ruiner if everyone starts talking about your one slightly off-topic post. See how it can ruin a thread?

Surely a thread is ruined by people not posting full stop, rather than people posting about something slightly away from the thread title, I fail to see how me mentioning (in this case) how a played performed on a different tour is really a huge derailing.

The post also got more attention because it was deemed against the rules, rather than for the subject matter. It was a one off comment, yet it's been made into a big deal by it being deleted in my opinion.

So you're basing all this on one moderators decision about one of your posts? Glad we cleared that up.
Did you incidentally try any of the things you're advised to do like PMing the moderator, then a globie or admin before coming in here and complaining about it?

Just massivelly rolling my eyes at the moment, this is such a petty issue
Which is my entire point.

Why does it matter where I put it too? This way we can see what other people think, rather than just allowing it to be swept under the rug. Afterall, the guys you've mentioned are hardly going to think I'm right, when they're the ones that have come up with these dictatorship like rules.

Plus, I didn't really fancy wasting my time waiting for each person to answer before moving on to the next.

Also, the one post is just this example, it happens so often it's unbelievable really. You can compare it to the straw that broke the camel's back if that helps you visualise it.

Simple. Don't like it? Leave. I think we can just about manage under these evil dictators who make Hitler look like a pussy cat

I admit, it's a pretty good option, I just thought the guys running this place might be the type to act on a bit of constructive criticism, rather than just saying 'It's our place, find another place to play ball.'

No opinion should be shot down or the opinion maker be told to leave. This is a forum, if we didn't give opinions, then the threads would die a horrible death.

That was me saying that, not the admins

It was an example, hence why I didn't mention anybodys name.

On a serious note to anybody interested, I don't see the problem with saying it here. I don't feel as though I've been abusive and/or rude about it, it's just my opinion that I'm trying to get across to the guys running the place.

You could have just PM'd them then. But yeah, too me, a post being deleted is not a big issue. Mod's are human. Maybe they did make a mistake. We all just have to move on

I'm not suggesting the person who deleted it made a mistake, I'm just saying that, in my opinion, the policy needs looking at.

For what it's worth, which probably isn't much, when I was a Mod I'd have much preferred a PM over a forum post. Sure I made mistakes as do all moderators and I was always open to discussion on the subject and was always willing to take comments on board and if I thought you were right I would back you. But people whining in public by making forum posts always got my back up and you'd be guaranteed no help from me. It's pretty easy to criticise and bitch but it takes less effort to be constructive. Its a shame that some members choose to bitch the entire time, it ultimately lead me to thinking that I was wasting my time as a moderator.

Your deleted post in question

Anderson averages 13 with the ball in India by the way.

In the Ashes thread for 09. If I just jump straight to that post I have no idea what that has to do with the topic. He has a average of 13 in India ok.... If you had quoted the post you were responding to and added a conclusion then your post would have been valid. Something like "Anderson averages 13 with the ball in India yet you are saying Johnson who averages 'x' in India is better"
