Any Improvements?

For what it's worth, which probably isn't much, when I was a Mod I'd have much preferred a PM over a forum post. Sure I made mistakes as do all moderators and I was always open to discussion on the subject and was always willing to take comments on board and if I thought you were right I would back you. But people whining in public by making forum posts always got my back up and you'd be guaranteed no help from me. It's pretty easy to criticise and bitch but it takes less effort to be constructive. Its a shame that some members choose to bitch the entire time, it ultimately lead me to thinking that I was wasting my time as a moderator.

Sure, you don't like being told that you're wrong, who does? Like I said though, I don't blame the person who deleted that post as it's a reoccuring theme and I haven't been rude or abusive, so I fail to see how I've managed to get your back up so much.

I thought the idea of this thread, was for members (like me) to bring up issues which I think would improve the quality of the board, which for me this would. Have I misunderstood something there?

In the Ashes thread for 09. If I just jump straight to that post I have no idea what that has to do with the topic. He has a average of 13 in India ok.... If you had quoted the post you were responding to and added a conclusion then your post would have been valid. Something like "Anderson averages 13 with the ball in India yet you are saying Johnson who averages 'x' in India is better"

So, the issue is that I didn't quote what I was responding to?

But essentially, you're saying if I add a bit more filler to it, then it would be ok? In my opinion, that kind of backs my point that it wasn't out of place.

Plus, as I said, I was hardly leading it to a whole new topic, I doubt most people would be able to fathom what a thread is about by just looking at one post in it.

Well you appear to be saying that not deleting off-topic posts would improve the board, I'm saying I disagree but am happy to look at any posts you feel have been deleted unfairly.

Actually what I was saying is that i was open to being told I was wrong, I might not agree, but you were always welcome to talk about it. What I am saying is that moaning about it in public is less likely to get you anywhere. Yes this thread is about improvements but try to be constructive. I agree it wasn't out of place if you had done the things I said and I have no problem with threads going slightly off topic as long as it has some relevance. I brought up Steve Waugh captaincy in the Aus in India thread, now if I had just said something like "Steve Waugh was a brilliant captain who was very attacking with his field placements" then I would expect that to be deleted as people will wonder what is he on about.

When have I not been constructive? I've talked about my post, where I felt it fitted in and why I feel that kind of thing should be allowed. If that isn't constructive then I don't know what is.


OK, I give up, it's obvious that I'm not making my point well enough, for everybody to understand. I just don't get how adding a bit more pointless text suddenly changes the relevance of a post.

Hi guys

Can you make the search engine words be 3 words as well (eg. Bats, ICL, IPL). It gets really annoying when you search for IPL pitch ads for example or a Kookaburra bat.

A improvement you could make is by having the thread spread out like this:
Name(page:1,2,3,4,5.....119,120)
With the other stuff around.
The only difference is the numbers at the end instead of having a last page link.

I admit, it's a pretty good option, I just thought the guys running this place might be the type to act on a bit of constructive criticism, rather than just saying 'It's our place, find another place to play ball.'

The chorus of agreement from the other members in this thread has really told us to act immediately :.

As Kev said, conducting this in a public forum rather than through a simple PM to either the moderator whose decision you were annoyed about, or an administrator if you're still not happy, was a mistake. Not only does it annoy us greatly, but you've also allowed your arguments to be rebuffed by several highly respected members.

I cant bet over 50k in vBookie, though I'm still only receiving interest of 5k despite having over 1.4mil. Are mods in the middle of changing it back or is it a glitch?

You should be able to bet 100k. Interest rates have been lowered to give some relief to those burdened with oppressive mortage payments

Yeah I understand it was just that when I posted that a message kept coming up saying I was only allowed to bet 50k so I thought it might have been changed back. But its all fine now.
