Ashok Dinda = 140ks (consistently). Bye bye Ishant?

Fast Medium bowlers they were, I am talking about a genuine Fast bowler. I understand your frustration. Must suck to be the only nation in the world that cannot produce someone who can bowl consistently over 140k. Even the Bangladeshis have a few. :laugh :rtfl :rtfl

On the other hand, India has produced batting Gods, so something's gotta give :p

It would be a shame if Sharam goes down the same road as Pathan. I've been trying to find our own Sharma in our ranks, that is how much I rated his spell against us.

Dinda went crap going by his figures where as Sharma easily was the pick.

Yeah tbh, we'd give anything to have a Sharma in the system.

For all we know we might, In Josh Hazlewood or Ben Cutting, but the Australian selectors don't have the bottle to give them a go.

One thing I like about the BCCI, they're willingness to give young players a go. They did this with Ishant and it worked, it'd be a shame to see him drop out.

I dont think Ishant will drop out. I have a gut feeling that he will come out better from this. The first spell he bowled at SL in the recent T20 gave me an impression that he was not happy with his recent drop (in the tests) and that he was willing to fight for his place in the side. He was unlucky with the wickets but his spell was superb. I think he needs to be given more shock treatments to get the best out of him.

Dont really think so....Dinda is capable no doubt, but I still feel Ishant is having a rough patch, he will bounce back....

Ishant hasn't actually done too badly, his stats were better than the other Indian pace bowling piffle in the ODI series v Aus.

People expect less from useless bowlers like Nehra so they are quite happy when he puts in a mediocre performance, but if Ishant does it he is criticised.

As for Dinda, who cares if he can bowl 140, that will never worry any international batsman worth his salt, and Dinda will never be man of the match in a Test series v Aus, in fact I highly doubt he will ever even be able to take a 2 wicket "haul" against them.

Ishant has been playing non stop cricket for the last 2 years. He needs 2 months break. And i am sure he will come back as a better bowler.

All our fast bowlers have a regular pattern,

(Cycle starts ) Start off career with brilliance --> Earn a name like deadly bowlers --> In short time, will get rusted back --> Still would be selected in team to play and try to live with first fame --> Comes back with just 120-130K speed --> Earn the curses from people & would still play for India --> One more career starts in the mean time ( Cycle continues from start )

Thiru Kumaran, Agarkar, Nehra, RP Singh, Irfan Pathan, Zaheer ( he is atleast back now, but I still remember how he struggled with his initial comeback with a big tummy -- During super sub era ) etc etc.

:banana2

Zaheer has managed to survive that cycle and is India's spearhead now for a long time. He also started off at 140+ bowler and had those toe crushing yorkers. But slowly he changed into a line and length mid 130's bowler but fortunately it has worked for him.

I have seen a lot of indian bowlers start their career with pace of 140KPH but for some reason they tend to lose the pace. It may have a lot to do with the pitches they get to bowl on in India. As far as Dinda is concerned, he can not be compared with Ishant Sharma who has quite consistently troubled the best player of pace bowling (ponting) in the modern era.

Comparison in this thread is with respect to pace and pace only :). We need a 140+ bowler

Obviously. The last time they touched 150+ was MAYBE while growing up and bowling in a cricket academy (with all due respect to all of them) ;)

Nice article about Ishant
Burnout not the reason for my slump: Ishant - Interviews - Cricket - Sports - The Times of India

Its just posted what I thought after I saw Ishant's bowling in those two T20's. Immediately after he was replaced by Sreesanth in the Kanpur and Mumbai tests, the cobwebs in Ishant's mind cleared and his hunger to prove that he still belongs there came back. Thats an encouraging sign that he can quickly jump back out of a slump if he is given that right treatment. Some bowlers go even further down after they are treated like that. I dont see a really long time outside the team for Ishant. Sometime soon, he is coming back.
