Australia A play 2 four-day games and four ODIs in September against Pakistan A. The tour starts from 11th of September when the two A sides take on each other in a four-day game. The Pakistan Cricket Board has named the Pak A side, which contains eight players with test experience. Bob Woolmer will be the coach of the Pak A team.

Pakistan A squad 1 Misbah-ul-Haq (capt), 2 Salman Butt, 3 Yasir Hameed, 4 Shoaib Malik, 5 Bazid Khan, 6 Asim Kamal, 7 Zulqarnain Haider (wk), 8 Imran Tahir, 9 Muhammad Sami, 10 Muhammad Asif, 11 Umar Gul, 12 Asher Zaidi, 13 Yasir Arafat, 14 Faisal Iqbal, 15 Muhammad Irshad.

Butt, Sami, Kamal, Gul, Hameed and Malik are part of the current Pakistani team, while Misbah-ul-Haq and Iqbal have played some tests aswell.

Upcoming match is already on Sunday! Tait won't be in the team, because he is playing this Test. And this series is drawing some attention, because the news is being brought on the frontpage of cricinfo.com.

Yeah, it's worth the sticky, even though it's technically not an international tour.

It should be a good series, worth watching.

Here's a brief Australia A rundown.

Brad Haddin (c) aggressive batsman, successful state captain. in much improved form. wicketkeeper. middle order batsman. probable one-day opener.
Michael Hussey accomplished and stylish left hander, won acclaim in ODI series in England this year. probable opening batsman.
Nathan Bracken effective left arm swing bowler, arguably a better bowler than Shaun Tait. devastating last season. probable opening bowler.
Stuart Clark right arm paceman, was impressive in 01-02, before being stricken by injury, has recaptured this form in the last two seasons. may open the bowling, although bowls first change for NSW.
Daniel Cullen promising 21 year old off spinner, coming off an excellent debut first class season. Is said to have developed a doosra.
Brad Hodge accomplished right hand batsman, dominant in last few years of first class cricket. probable no. 3 in both forms
James Hopes useful medium pace all-rounder. probable one-day specialist
Phil Jaques left hand batsman, should someday be a force in the Test squad. pronounce it "jay-kes". probable opener in both forms of the game.
Mitchell Johnson young tall left arm paceman, promising, but has played very little first class cricket. probable 12th man.
Michael Lewis experienced, fierce right arm paceman, last season was his best to date. may open the bowling with Bracken.
Marcus North improving left hander. possible opening bat choice. possible one-day batsman. most likely reserve batsman.
Dominic Thornely highly talented match winner, but a relative newbie. can bowl some medium pace. middle order batsman.
Shane Watson strong batsman and pace bowler, constantly growing into his abilities, though injurys set him back. middle order bat, both forms
Cameron White wunderkind 22 year old Victorian captain, a talented batsman and bowls leg breaks similar to Anil Kumble. possible one-day specialist

Great summary of those players Angry. On White if he can model himself into Kumble he will be more than capable of playing test match cricket. If White can get his leg spinners to take wickets then Aus have found themselves an all rounder.

I just saw some figures of these Australian players and I was like WTF. These guys have unbelievable figures. Two players are averaging around 40, two players are averaging 50-60 and four players 60-66 in recent Pura Cup competition 2004-2005.

Four bowlers have average of lower then 25 and three players have taken more then 40 wickets in recent Pura Cup competition 2004-2005.
And Bracken took 7 wickets for 4 runs only in that competition!

These stats are really great.

I'm disappointed that David Hussey didn't get selected for this Australia A team, he's a talent with the bat. Averaging over 70 in county cricket this year, and a career average of 57.

Does show Aus still have the batting depth. Bracken's 7/4 was amazing. He was 7/2 at one stage. If the ball is swinging Bracken is lethal.
