3 Mobile and Travelex Named As Sponsors

Travelex and 3 Mobile have renewed their sponsorship with the Australian Test team ahead of their international season. Announced just one day after the squads were named for the first tour of the year, to South Africa, the sponsorship pairing hope to continue with the long, successful run with the current world champions.

Ricky Ponting also spoke to the press for the first time about the upcoming tour and what he feels on his sides chances.

Ponting:

"Well obviously we will go into this game as favorites. However beating South Africa in South Africa will be a very tough job. Thankfully we have got some really strong stocks in both the batting and bowling departments and we are all ready for the test matches to begin"

"As for the one day internationals, we have always had some really great games against South Africa. My mind always goes back to the World Cup in 1999. Im sure that both teams will give it their all."

The Australian squads have been in camp in Sydney ahead of their trip out to Cape Town tomorrow. The South African tour reads as follows:

Warm up match - 50 over match
Border Vs Australia - Johannesburg

News Report

Australia Leave For Africa

The Australian cricket squad left for South Africa today ahead of the much anticipated clash against a strong South African test and one day outfit. Having spent the last week in camp ahead of the flight out to Cape Town, the team looked enthusiastic and mentally prepared ahead of what will be one of their tougher tours.

Australian coach John Buchanan cited Matthew Hayden and Justin Langers as the players to watch against the proteas:

"I think after our week away Matty and Lang both look really on the ball and i think both will put up some big numbers in this series. They are also crucial if we are going to get away to a good positive start and they are our first step in winning any test match with the bat."
John Buchanan - Australian test coach

Warne Picks His Target

Star leg spinner Shane Warne also picked his target for the tour, allready highlighting number 3 batsman Jacques Kallis as the unfortunate batsman.

"Well you always want to test yourself against the best and ive always tested myself against Jacques in the past. He has always been crucial in anything they do. Thats why im sure I need to get on top of him right from the get-go"
Shane Warne

The gountlet has now been laid by the world champions, the question now arrises, how will the home side respond. Who will win?
