According to me, Dravid would have struggled again if his ODI record is compared with Ganguly.

P.S: Sachin strike rate in ODI is 86 wheras dravid has a meagre strike rate of 71.26.

If he is the best test player tehn why he has not performed against the best team in the world where sachi has excelled? Is it that hard to answer? As far as consistency goes, sachin has 8 years in which he has scored over 1000 runs whereas dravid has just 2. He is just called dependable coz media and public loves nicknames. They had to praise dravid so they came up only with mr. dependable, as master blaster, rockstar, etc explosive names wouldnt justfy his style. So Mr. Dependable is just a nickname. He has not performed against the best team thus he is not best in my book.

P.S: I didnt intentionally missed dravid from the poll, i just forgot...

I don't understand where you got that he hasn't performed against Australia in test matches. It's only the last home and away series in which he has failed. This wasn't because he was playing against Australia, it was because he was out of form. He has been absolutely superb against Australia otherwise and I don't think examples are necessary.

IT WASN'T HIS ROLE TO HIT! He had to take up one end so the batsman at the other end could go on the offensive. He didn't do this because he couldn't attack, he did this because he was forced to and he was the only one in the team who could hold up the fort for a long period of time. He has the 2nd fastest fifty by an Indian.

Well that all is based on facts. Go to cricinfo and use stats guru. Dravid avg 24 in ODI and 42 in test against Aus. Way below his Overall avg. Not the stuff WALL is made up off:p:p

Thats the difference, Dravid can only play such inning once in a lifetime whereas sachin plays those innings regularly. What the heck was dravid doing in IPL, noone was stopping him?? why didnt he hit out. Dont give me example of that 70 odd run inning. As he was running out of parteners and decided to attack when they were certain to loose the match.

So you're degrading one indian legend to support another. You are a true indian fan, my friend.

No, you go to Cricinfo and exclude the last two test series. His average is around 50. His average didn't suddenly drop against the Aussies because he didn't know how to play against the Aussies. It just happened to be the Aussies he was playing when he was going through a bad patch. A very rare one at that.

What was Sachin doing in the IPL then? Sachin isn't some god in T20s either. His strike rate is only 6 higher than Dravid's.

I don't really care who is better because at the end of the day it is a matter of opinion. As an Indian fan I am proud to say that we have had 2 legendary batsmen in Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid. Who is better? Doesn't matter. I'm just happy to have been around in the time period when I could see two legends at work.

A nightmare which made me face plant myself

If so then, we should remove the sachin's bad patches too, then sachin's avg would be Bradmanseque. That fact bout removing his last two test series is rubbish. I would say remove sehwags bad patch from his records. Then compare sehwag with even bradman.

Sachin's bad patch didn't coincide with any of his series' vs Australia though. They didn't severely tarnish his average against them either. Sachin didn't really have a bad patch as such, it was more like a stop-start period of time where he kept coming back in and leaving due to injury. His "bad patch" was just his slightly slow start to his test match career.

Well, you have said it yourself. Now tell me who is consistent, one who has never had a bad patch and other hand one who is having a bad patch in last two years. End Of Discussion, Move On

I didn't say he is more consistent that Rahul Dravid. I said he didn't have a bad patch. You are just like the media, highlighting only one part of what I said which twists the meaning. Sachin's "bad patch" was his slow start to his career. However, Dravid has been more consistent and reliable than Sachin Tendulkar. That is not taking anything away from Sachin as I feel they are both of equal value to the team. A team is made not of one or two individuals, but 11 players, it just helps when you have two players who are as good as Sachin and Dravid. Also, you're not a mod, so don't tell me when to move on :).
