Scorecard
Briggs XI took a foot closer to promotion with a 146 run victory over Postwar's at The Briggs Dome earlier today. On a bright and sunny day at The Dome, Postwar's captain Tim Stone won the toss and suprisingly put the home side in on a cracking pitch. Ainsworth and Ali needed no invitation and played their shots right from the get go, something the home crowd have now become accustomed too with these two at the crease. The two put on their second stand of over 300 and both reached centuries in fine style. Ainsworth was first to reach 3 figures, his 7th century of the season, and not long after, captain Nalin Ali brought up his 2nd century of the season, another fine knock from the 17 year old with a bright future. However, Brian Mohamed removed Derek Ainworth towards the end of the innings as the big hitter went for a massive shot into cow corner but only found the hands of Shaun Swailes on the boundary. Briggs XI finished their innings on 341 for the loss of only 1 wickets, and when Postwar's came out to bat, the result seemed obvious with the 2nd ball dismissal of dangerman Liam Holt. Dan Browne proved to be a real match winner though, picking up 4 wickets from his 10 over spell and if not for a last wicket stand of 41, Postwar's could have been looking down the barrell of a huge defeat, but none the less, still a comfortable victory for Briggs XI.

"That was a great performance from the lads, I couldnt have asked for more from them, they were really up for it beforehand and showed that out on the field. Derek and Nalin batted superbly again to set us up, and then Dan picked up a super 4 for, which didnt suprise me in the least, he has been bowling brilliantly recently and deserved his rewards. This sets us up nicely for Sunday now, and I have no concerns, if we play like we did today on Sunday, we should be well on our way to the Semis."
