Preperations For Tomorrow

02/03/2007
League Game Seven
Briggs Bullets v The Exes@ The Bullets Dome
Start Time: 10:30am

Pre-Match Notes: The newly promoted Exes make the trip to Yorkshire tomorrow to take on the Bullets in what should be an interesting encounter. With the Bullets fresh off a suprise upset last week against barbadian buses, they will look to continue their good form with victory against a struggling Exes outfit. With only 1 win from 6 games, they seem to be struggling to acustom to life in V, and a return to VI looks likely, but a victory at the Dome tomorrow could give them the lift they need. A win for the Bullets could see them move up to as high as 3rd in the league, and with a match against bottom team Merthyr Tydfil next week, things could be looking good for the Bullets.

Judging on my last league match and The Exes last match, and depending on the teams for tomorrow, the summary would be as follows:

Code:
                [B]Briggs Bullets[/B] [B]The Exes[/B]
Top Order: respectable feeble
Middle Order: competent woeful
Lower Order: abysmal [B]V[/B] abysmal
Seam Bowling: respectable feeble
Spin Bowling: respectable woeful
Fielding: woeful woeful
The Exes will be up against it judging from these stats. The Bullets last opponents, HuntingTigers, had similar stats to these and left the Dome with a hammering, and that was against a second XI team! However anything can happen on the day, and manager Briggs will be hoping his side shows no complecancy.

Briggs XI Lineup to face The Exes tomorrow (from):
1.Sohail, 2.Midworth(wk), 3.Moodley, 4.N.Ali(c), 5.Jepson, 6.Pickford, 7.S.Ali, 8.Burdett, 9.Gillman, 10.Bignot, 11.Storer

Briggs' View
"Should be interesting tomorrow, they have a few decent players in their team that could cause some problems, but the boys have trained brilliantly all week and are looking in good touch. Unfortunately Derek Ainsworth picked up a slight knock on Tuesday and we have decided not to risk him tomorrow, he should turn out on Sunday, but Shastwat comes into the side for him, with Des Midworth opening up with Hilal."

Well there you go! Thats the strength in depth of my team! Nalin usually bats 4 anyway, and Shastwat will bat at 7 because everyone above him in the order is well, to put it nicely, better than him! :)

A near full Bullets Dome saw the home side record their most convincing victory of the season today, as the Bullets routed The Exes by a huge 321 run margin. On another hot day in Yorkshire, Nalin Ali won the toss and decided to have a bat first on a cracking pitch. Sohail and makeshift opener Des Midworth strolled out to the middle and began with a bang, hitting 68 from the opening 10 without any problems. The two motered on from there, with the pair both blazing their way past 50's, but with the score on 149, Midworth was trapped infront by impressive paceman Gregg Montgomery. Shortly after, Sugriva Moodley would depart, commiting suicide whilst attempting a quick single, he was gone via a direct hit. But, a huge 135 run partnership between Sohail and captain Ali saw the Bullets past 300, and in the process, bringing up Sohail's century. Sohail would depart with the score on 311 with Montgomery the man again to pick up the wicket. Dave Jepson fell for a golden duck, via a dubious looking LBW decision, after replays, not only had Jepson got an inside edge, but it was also going over the top of leg stump. A swift 26 from Pickford and some powerful hitting from Nalin Ali saw the Bullets up to 364, Ali just 4 short of a century.

With a huge total to chase, The Exes openers came out knowing big hitting was in order, but Burdett and Storer had other plans, with seven wickets being shared between the two in their short 5 over stints. Nalin Ali wrapped up the game with the final 3 wickets, as The Exes were bowled out for dissapointing 43, with only one man reaching double figures. This win could see The Bullets moving way up the table, and with a game against bottom side Merthyr Tydfil next week, promotion could still be a possibility for The Bullets.

Managers View

"The lads have done me proud today, we have shown how devestating we can be, and nearly everyone who got in went on to score well. I thought Des batted brilliantly up top, not bad for a 17 year old, Hilal was superb, he continues to get better and better, and the captain led from the front, I was hoping he would score a century today, he deserves it after all the hard work he's put in as of late, but none the less we set them a formiddable score, and as soon as Joe and Storey went out, I could see they were determined to wrap it up themselves, they did brilliantly and even the captain got in, making up for the lack of three figures I guess. Serves us good for next week I think, but the real test will be in 2 weeks time, and judging from this, victory is a high possibilty."

What a win by huge margin :clap Once Ali ending in NO.... he is really a very aggressive skipper! :) Congrads for the big win.

Preperations For Tomorrow

04/03/2007
Challengers XI v Briggs Bullets@ Bryanston Road
Start Time: 10:30am

Pre-Match Notes:In what should be a fascinating encounter, the Bullets travel down to Surrey to take on an in form Challengers XI. Both teams will certinally be up for this, having met on several occasions in the past, the Bullets have come out on top on each occasion, adding more spice to the fire. Both managers have currently kept their selections under wraps for the game tomorrow, but it is rumoured that Shaun Briggs will yet again be playing a weakened team for the game. Both teams come into the game off the back of good victories in Friday's league games, but as we know in friendlies, form goes out of the window and its anyone's game for the taking.

Judging on my last friendly match and Challengers XI last friendly match, and depending on the teams for tomorrow, the summary would be as follows:

Code:
                [B]Briggs Bullets[/B] [B]Challengers XI[/B]
Top Order: competent mediocre
Middle Order: feeble feeble
Lower Order: worthless [B]V[/B] feeble
Seam Bowling: competent mediocre
Spin Bowling: competent mediocre
Fielding: woeful feeble

Challengers XI look to have a pretty decent all round team, whilst the Bullets might be stronger in most areas, if Challengers fire on the day, there could be a suprise victory, however if the ratings are anything to go by, it should be a comfortable victory for the Bullets.

Briggs XI Lineup to face Challengers XI tomorrow (from):
1.Ainsworth, 2.N.Ali(c), 3.S.Ali, 4.Moodley, 5.Pickford, 6.Archibald, 7.Midworth(wk), 8.Ahmed, 9.Gillman, 10.Rankin, 11.Storer

Briggs' View
"Challengers XI are not to be underestimated, Embi has managed them well and they have some dangerous players we should look out for, particulary their young all-rounder Wood. Whilst I am confident we will go there and get a victory, I dont think it will be as easy as many people think, and I will be ensuring the boys arent complacent tomorrow."
