I searched for "Cook" and all the Cooks had a 4 beside them (4 of them) but that didn't seem to hold true for others. Kirk was also the original creator of all 4.

i think i got it, level 4 is for the player originality you make not for the creator's skill, go in the career stats of level 4 players and you will see all their career details. look for clarke and cook. mcullum has 81 likes on ca but is still level 2 coz no one has entered its career stats. also level 4 players have specific identity like batsman or bowler.

Exactly! I wondered, when Ross had told us that we cannot choose the role of the player yet, the engine chooses for itself depending on the stats? If thats the case then its amazing! Imagine its use in career mode.

yeah, but i still want ross to throw some light over it.

Maybe, but cricketers aren't always held by their career statistics... some players improve radically over time.

Career stats should definitely have some sway when determining ability, but not all of it. Hopefully the unlicensed default players will have fairly accurate abilities already.

I'm assuming for copyright reasons you can't just connect your game up to cricinfo (at least not without paying them a load of money).

An external, stand alone stats editor should suffice. It'd come in handy. I guess the PC guys would surely come up with one, once the game is out.

That would require striking a deal with ESPN (remember cricinfo is now part of ESPN). Not sure it would be worth spending money on that given this is the first iteration of the game. Maybe in future iterations something could be worked out but for now nailing the gameplay has to be the main objective.
