To address the attendance issue, the number might be accurate. This could be for a few reasons though:
- This was the first international baseball tournament that had MLB stars in it.
- Crowd Capacity for baseball Stadiums are larger than for cricket. (Yankee stadium has 70,000)

Cricket will not be taken over simply because the ICC has moved much quicker in expanding cricket than MLB or the International Governing Body for Baseball has to expand cricket. Baseball had its first World Baseball classic last year. Cricket had its first World Cup in 1975. That was 30 years ago! While baseball did this the ICC has started having tri series for associate members. Lets not forget the intercontinental cup. That was huge for cricket developement in many countries.

Also, there are way too many people from common wealth nations (India is particular) who have migrated to other countries and want to play cricket. Even in the US, every other person I have met from the West Indies loves cricket. This is true even for the ones who grew up here. I also met a whole bunch pf pakistani kids that played cricket. This wasnt because their parents taught them but because they played with other kids in the masjid.
