PCB Announces 30 members Squad

After asking to postpone the due date for announcing the squad for the wc,PCB Finally announced the 30 members squad for WC 2011,which will be started from 19th of Feb.Pcb was waiting for the clarification of some players from the ICC,that's why they announced the squad too late from the other teams. Now when PCB cleared Kamran Akmal who was suspected to fix the sydney test last year. The shocker was that Danish Kaneria and Shoaib Malik wasn't selected,as PCB says they were failed to give the details of their bank accounts.

The Selection panel's meeting took place at the Pcb"s headquarter. After a long discussion of 2 hours finally chief Selector Mohsin Hassan Khan briefed the media with Ejaz Butt(By the way what was he doing there?)

Squad

Code:
[B]Openers: Muhammad Hafeez, Ahmed Shahzad,Taufique Umer, Nasir Jamshed

Middle-Order batsmen: Mohammad Yousuf, Younus Khan, Misbah ul Haq, Umar Akmal,Azhar Ali, Asad Shafiq, Naveed Yasin

WicketKeepers: Kamran Akmal, Sarfraz Ahmed, Salman Ahmed

All Rounders: Shahid Afridi, Abdul Razzaq, Yasir Arafat, Rana Naveed

Spin Bowlers: Abdul Rehman, Saeed Ajmal, Yasir Shah, Zulfiqar Babar

Fast Bowlers: Shoaib Akhtar, Umar Gul, Wahab Riaz, Sohail Tanveer, Tanvir Ahmed, Junaid Khan, Aizaz Cheema, Asad Ali[/B]

Media asked about dropping Fawad,to Mohsin Khan who answered:

"We simply could not find a place for Fawad in the squad and that was down to him not being in the sort of form needed in a tournament like the World Cup," Mohsin told

Another deficiency we see in this Squad, the three suspended cricketers.Amir Asif and Butt. Some says that in the absence of these three key player,it's gonna be hard to perform well for Pakistan in this edition of wc.Amir is the latest find of Pakistan' pace bowling attack, and butt was also doimg well at international arena. So let's hope that these players comeback to play again for Pakistan after the WC

A good thing about this squad is the inclusion of Left arm pacer,Sohail Tanvir.who has been out from Pakistan team since june 2011 because of his fitness and performance reasons. He has called back because of his dream run in Quaid-e-Azam trophy.

The Bowling looks good but Batting is a bit inexperienced.Except Moyo and yuni there is no dependable batman in the squad. They all perform but once in a blue moon

So that's we have today for you.Keep in touch for more news from the cricketing world

I saw your vm about this so I've decided to come have a look. You haven't done too badly to start off with, the last update was good, although you probably could have done a bit more with the opening post but never mind. Just a few things, the grammar and punctuation needs to be worked on. You have capital letters in the wrong places, you should have a space after comma's and fullstops and I'd probably try to stay away from shortening things (Say February rather than Feb). But the grammar isn't the best and doesn't make a lot of sense. Just work on it, maybe if someone offers to check your work, then let them although I don't have a lot of time on my hands after next week as I've got to go back to school. You also made a couple of spelling mistakes in the squad selection, you should make sure you get all the names spelt correctly (A few I can spot there are Muhammad Hafeez (Should be Mohammad), Taufique Umer (Should be Taufeeq Umar), Ahmed Shahzad (Should be Shehzad) and Rana Naveed (Should be Naved). Not sure if there are any more.

Also, regarding this quote:

The Selection panel's meeting took place at the Pcb"s headquarter. After a long discussion of 2 hours finally chief Selector Mohsin Hassan Khan briefed the media with Ejaz Butt(By the way what was he doing there?)

About the bolded bit, tbh I would stay away from that altogether, it's your story so you know what he's doing there. If it was a player diary, then maybe but it doesn't look like that so I wouldn't do that, takes away from the story I reckon. It's something the readers would ask, not the story writer.

Anyway, good luck and I hope you can improve.

Brilliant stroke with Kaneria and Malik excluded for not providing bank details! :cheers

Along with Brendon's suggestions about punctuation, capital letters and abbreviations, I would suggest you cut down on the use of the "WC" abbreviation for "the World Cup". You're clearly trying to write like a media report, whereas 'WC' is far too informal - more like a discussion forum...;)

As for the spellings of the Arabic names, I don't know enough about the culture to comment. Are all the variations caused by different attempts to translate from the 'alphabet' used in Urdu/Arabic to the "Latin" alphabet? I don't mind them personally, as long as it doesn't get confusing (like it would if there was an "Ajmal Shehzad" playing for Pakistan :p).

I agree with Brendon for the rest, and also would add "PCB": always all capitals, and always preceded by "the" (ie. "The PCB").

tbh, this story needs to improve as the others said, you'll have to work on your writing. although good luck!

----------

and Sometimes you can get too far ahead of yourself, get your grammar out off the park and try and act and do things you probably shouldn't be doing and you take a few things for granted

Final Squad is about to Announced

The PCB is about to announce the final 15 squad for the world cup.According to the sources,PCB has finalized the 15 players which will fly to Sri Lanka to take part in the world cup.The meeting of selection panel is expected to take place on 10th of January, where they'll announce the squad after some discussion.

Mohammad Yousuf is expected to not to be selected. The PCB has shown some discipline worries over Yousuf's selection.Yousuf, who has been scoring runs in the domestic matches is very confident that he will surely make his place in the final 15.

Yousuf scored 110 against Islamabad before the innings end

Yousuf spoke to the media after scoring 110 of 170 ball against Islamabad. He said over his selection matter:

"Well, right now i am running a good form and my fitness is also quite good, but still it is the matter of selection panel.I can't say anything right now.Playing for Pakistan is my passion and I will play whenever i get the change"

Another major blow for Pakistan that Rana Naved's inclusion is still in doubt.Last week,he had a knee injury playing for Sialkot Stallions.Although Rana is very hopeful that he will be fully fit before the world cup but PCB is not looking too convince over his fitness.

Rana told the media:

"I had a knee injury but it is not too serious,no need of operation as well.I hope that i'll be fully fit before the world cup.I have been practicing hard since i am not in the team and was running a good form before the injury. So i think i'll be able to impress the selector for the world cup."

I wasn't sure what you meant here. Do you mean "The PCB has voiced some discipline concerns regarding Yousuf"?

I have been practicing hard since i am not in the team and was running a good form

In English the only thing I can think of that we speak of "running a..." like this is "running a fever". :lol I think it's a nice touch when the quotes from the players have a few mistakes (due to it not being their first language). But unless this is a common idiom in Pakistani English, I thought it was unlikely that both players interviewed would make the same mistake. I would simply say "I have been in good form". If the 'run' of form is something quite new, we do say "I am running into some good form right now" and things like that.
