England 1st Innings!
England have completly destroyed South Africas bowling attack, Strauss and Tresco got them of to a flyer with fours coming from all directions as South Africa quikly realized that they had made a mistake putting England into bat first as it did look like a seaming track but it was a sunny day and the outfield was as fast as lightning...
Wickets gradually fell but they were in a very strong position and required some good batting from non other than Pietersen who gave them that batting in full flow he wasnt there to mess around and he has most probably played one of the best knocks in his life and he looked like he was set for a big 100 but he fell on 91 with a effortless shot but he had put England into a great position by that time they looked unstoppable!
Another thing to talk about is Vikram Solanki he played wonder fully for his amazing knock off 86* he played so aggressivly that it shocked a few people and he really batted well with the tail end which was necessary for him to do and he did it amazing to get England to this massive total!
England Made 312-7!
Lefty Says Being 5 Down & Chacing ATotal Is A Concern....Wrong or Right?
So then it seemed all over and done with when SA came out to bat especially after the first few overs where Anderson and Broad got some really good early wickets and important ones of that, Sout Africa were reduced to 14-4 after a few overs with Anderson & Broad getting two each first to go was Smith he miss judged one from Broad that nipped back and the young seamer got his first trapping the Protea capitan in front for LBW!
More wickets fell after that to be precise 3 more fell 2 wickets fell in two overs then Anderson produced a beauty for De Villiers a ball that nipped back late completly decived De Villiers and he was left with a nothing shot and his off flying back...
A Twist In The Tale? So then South Africa went on to lose a few more crucial wickets off Rudolph and Hall who were looking good but then Mark Boucher and Ashwell Prince put on an amazing partnership their partnership started at 85-5 up to 223 which is incredible and they put hope into them winning this match Boucher however went which is the first twist in the tale Pollock supported Prince nicley who got to his 100 and what a crucial one but then Pollock departed and Boje and Prince had the job to finish...so then 8 runs left and 2 wickets to get Freddie to Prince...Ashwell drags it onto his middle peg...
But it does not end here 8 runs left and only 1 wicket needed what would happen? Well heres what happened Anderson bowled it move viciously off the seam and went..........for four byes which left only 4 runs to win which Boje graciously smashed away and won the Proteas their first match in the series to make it 1-1 and put life back into the series, this has to be one of the classic matches given the situation South Africa were in!
Oh and Punk I meant chasing a low total being 5 down was bad. Chasing 300+ and winning is always a good acheviement no matter how many wickets you are down.
South Africa vs England, 3rd ODI - South Africa 1st Innings!
South Africa Smash Out Poms! So then England won the toss and suprisingly decided to have a bowl first they must have thought it might be another low scoring match but they will have to have their tails up now as they are definitely on the back foot.........and lets says on one knee to, the Saffers have smashed them all over the park since ball one even after two overs the score had reached 24-0 and from then on the onslaught started and England seemed to be out of it for most of the Innings they got a few wickets here and there but it has been a struggle for them the whole way, maybe they reduced South Africa a little bit towards the end as De Villiers went but thats another story...
De Villiers Shows Amazing Form!
Well its the 2nd sucessive 100 from a South African batsman first Ashwell Prince got his 132 in the last match and what a crucial one it was now De Villiers has got his and he has batted amazingly well for his 121 he was unfortunante to go at the end when they needed to up the tempo a little bit but it doesn't matter much as he had done all the damage and reached his 100 at some speed he also had some luck in that Innings along with some lovely shots....
When we say luck we mean serious luck he was trapped plum in front twice for LBW but funnily enough it was not given out for some odd reason we dont see why it was not given but you win some you lose some and England didn't have luck riding on their side today thats for sure but towards the end De Villiers Innings ended when Anderson bowled a beauty with some reverse swing knocking his off peg back to finish off a fine knock...
South Africa vs England, 3rd ODI - England Innings!
South Africa Breeze Through!
South Africa Have completly destroyed Englands batting line-up once again, after posting such a big total themselves it was only natural that England must go after the ball and they sprinted past the run rate going at nearly 8 runs per over but in the process of trying to score quickly they lose wickets and it seemed that would happen as trying to score at such a pace can be dangerous, but to chase scores like that you need to take big risks and England took the risks at the cost of loosing their wickets which they did...
Flintoff put on a small display making 48* until he ran out Stuart Broad but there was no fight left in them from being in a faily good position despite early wickets tumbling they looked intent but it always seemed out of reach for some odd reason, either they need to work on the bowling and put up a fight as they are now under pressure all of a sudden...one other thing to mention is the way Mark Boucher was taking his catches so many dives and takes its an amazing site to watch shows that the South Africans are just kicking off for the World Cup!
England 118 All Out, South Africa Lead The Series: 2-1.
Tough luck for England but really they have to step up if they want to do well and win matches. Saffers were just too good in the last game. De Villiers knock was simply awesome.
South Africa vs England, 4th ODI - South Africa Innings!
South Africa Collapse!
Hello and welcome to this 4th ODI Match and this is a tough one to the pressure is imense and both teams need to do well, the series is balanced nicley and is their for the taking for both teams, so at the start of this match South Africa won the toss and elected to bat hoping to put on a big partnership or a big score like in previous matches but that wasnt the case...
England would have been pretty unsure of what was good or bad but they got some really good assitance from the pitch which let them make early breakthroughs and they showed faith in young Stuart Broad who got the first wicket then two went then 3 and from there on it looked hard for the Proteas to get a reasonable target...
Plunkett Impresses! Liam Plunkett has impressed today with an amazing bowling performance he was brought in at 4th change and looked at times as if the Proteas would target him and they tried but failed as luck took his and Englands side today he got some help from the pitch and some luck where the times looked as if one of the batsman were going after him he somehow bounced back for example Kalis looked in unforgiving form but he got a inside edge on one and played onto his stumps, this was straight after hitting Plunkett for 4...
