The C&G Trophy

section_candg.gif

The C&G trophy is cricket's equivalent of the FA Cup. Every match is important, and even one mistake could cost you big time. This knockout tournament produces some of the best matches of the entire county season, and Warwickshire will be looking to win the the C&G Trophy this season, after being knocked out by local rivals Worcestershire in the quarterfinals last season.

Fixtures for this tournament will be put up as soon as it is released by the ECB.

Twenty20 Cup

section_twenty20.gif

Its the most happening thing in Cricket. Twenty20 has taken the entire cricketing world by storm in just two years. International twenty20 matches are now being held regularly and are acting as great crowd-pullers, besides setting the tone for the actual series.
But the twenty20 cup is still the best in county level, and the bears will want to go all the way in this tournament.
I myself, am so looking forward to this one!!!

All the 18 counties have been divided into three basic groups on the basis of their geographic location.

North
Derbyshire
Durham
Lancashire
Leicestershire
Nottinghamshire
Yorkshire

Mid/West/Wales
Glamorgan
Gloucestershire
Northamptonshire
Somerset
Warwickshire
Worcestershire

South
Essex
Hampshire
Kent
Middlesex
Surrey
Sussex

The top two teams for each group plus the best two of the third placed teams will qualify for the quater-finals.

The C&G Trophy and the Twenty20 Cup
section_candg.gif
section_twenty20.gif

Same rules apply for the C&G Trophy and the Twenty20cup apart from the fact that incase of a tied game in a knockout stage, then the winner is decided by a bowl-out contest.

Points System in Twenty20 Cup
Win - 2 points
Tie/NR - 1 point

In the Twenty20 cup you first have teams qualifying from three different groups, with the top two teams from each group plus the best two of the third placed teams making it to the quarterfinals.

From here on it follows the knockout format.

The C&G Trophy follows the knock out format throughout.

The Free Hit Rule
In the event of a foot fault no ball, the next delivery is a free hit wherein the batsman can only be dismissed by a run out. If this delivery is a wide or a no ball then the following delivery is a free hit.

Bowl-out Rule
If a knockout match ends in a tied result after all possible comparisions, then both teams select 5 players who will have to strike the stumps. The team which does this the most number of times in those five chances (in a best of five) will declared the winner. If no clear result is attained after five chances, then the winner is decided by a sudden death, wherein the first team to miss out in a given round, while the other team has scored, is eliminated.

Division One

Coming up next LIVE:

Stay tuned.
