GCSE Results Day

Well my re-mark situation rumbles on. I e-mailed the Head of Middle School, who forwarded it onto the Head of Examinations (), who has now forwarded it onto the teacher in the English department who is in charge of exam submissions. Whatever else you could possibly say about my school, they are certainly efficient.

Well, for a start, you don't need a degree. However, it does make things easier. If you don't go down the route of Uni, then you should specialise in a certain area. You won't get anywhere just floating from job to job. Education is important. Joe, if I were you I would do A-levels and take it from there. The current situation for getting a job isn't exactly brilliant, competition is quite fierce too. tbh, I think it would be foolish for someone of your intellect to not bother with a-levels.

I will do A levels but it does feel like I'm missing out. I'd probably feel the same the other way too though. Good point how hard getting a job would be, my dad wouldn't give me one although that's probably because he's tight :p I will do my A levels but even though I did ok by most peoples standards the way the media make out you should be getting an A* in every subject really winds me up and I know a lot of people are stupid enough to believe it as well.

what kind of jobs do you get after A levels? compared to "after" uni.

Employers tend to be more realistic than the media and/or government. But seriously, the next few years will be tough. Specialists are more likely to succeed in times of recession. I presume A-levels would mean another 2 years in education for you? I'd do it, Joe. I missed out and am going back at 20. You pay a lot more too! The economy is unpredictable, you have to give yourself the best chance possible. Of course, during the summer you can search around for jobs and who knows, maybe you'll get yourself into a company you like.

A levels would mean 2 more years and then I would probably go to uni because I'd feel like it would be the next step in my life. I'd take a year off though to go watch some cricket or something. My plan to win the lottery is still top of the list of course but i'll need a back up.

I don't like to be ignored, or maybe, you guys don't know the answer.

Ah cheers, I'll go and burn my history degree :p

It's quite a broad question, Usy. There is no definitive answer. My brother-in-law did English and Art degrees and is a debt collector for a bank. Having a degree tends to make it easier to get promoted.

Right, thanks for the Info, as if the UK unis are gonne take me anyway, I ain't writing a 1600 word essay about myself to get into that.

Passed my maths and got it up from a D to a C. But I have lost my results on the bus ride home.

You dopey git. I presume you rang the college as soon as you got home?

Yep, they told me to ring the bus provider, so I did and they said the bus I was on hasn't got back to the depot yet and it must still be out on the road. So some weirdo could be looking at my GCSE results...

They were in my pocket, and must have slipped out because when I got home and checked my pocket they had gone, and my brother was walking behind me all the way home and he said nothing fell out, but he was infront of me on the bus. So I think they are on there.
