thn ball wont swing at all,

Dont worry bowling slow. You are right that it swings more when bowled slowly. But if you dont wanna bowl cross seam then nothing better than bowling and bowling till you get control off swing.

Also if in match try to roll ball on ground or ask keeper to give nice rubbing to bowl in his gloves to loosen its shine. It will stop swinging but not by much.

Change your line.

If your getting tons of inswing, bowl outside off. If your getting outswing, on off stump or middle.

Bowl about back of a length.

Irfan Pathan had this problem during his under 19 days. If you look at him now, he bowls short-ish but still gets loads of swing to trouble the batsman.

Take a tennis ball with tape on one side, and practice with it. It swings like mad. I bowled with those for a bit, after a while you get used to it. Its like trying to force a ball to be wide outside offstump, only to have it swing back into the stumps. So you start aiming for the wide line when it is swining back in, and voila, you get a good ball.

My sir says to bowl cross seam with the new ball as well when you are struggling to control it, so thats definately worth a try.

ya that works but cross seam would make the ball not swing so u r not using the conditions

im sorry if this is the stupidest question uve ever heard but whats a seam pitch?

It's a pitch that has a lot of seam for the quick bowlers. I had to bowl on this kinda pitch last game. threw a couple of wides but i adjusted to bowl just short of length and boy did i enjoy taking some wickets.

Has anyone been watching the Eng v NZ ODIs? Broad has been bowling cross-seam and the commentators have been discussing how he has managed to use it to great effect. It allows him to bowl to his field very accurately and put pressure on the batsman.

If you're very confident of your swinging ball, maybe you can introduce a bit of deception by bowling the cross seam delivery as a stock ball. When the pressure is on, look for an opportunity to bowl the swinging one on a hittable length.
