I've been gathering a lot of feedback from mainly our forums for how you want the game to progress, I'd like to open this up here. There is a lot I've taken in, but it would be great to hear as many opinions as possible.

Discuss.

I find bowling to be much more satisfying than batting. Whereas I have a sense of being able to bowl to fields, set fields etcetera I find batting doesn't involve me in the same way. Of course I need to be able to read the match situation and read my players qualities correctly and to use the aggression settings accordingly but I wonder if it is possible to revamp the whole batting side of things so that you feel more involved as a player.

It would be helpful as well for there somehow to be some information or help as to why something isn't working. I mean in a normal cricket game you have a timing meter or whatever that tells you how you are batting.
I know this game and idea is based on a whole different concept but I find myself frustrated often as to why a batsmen isn't scoring quickly or gets out etcetera. It all feels to random and too much out of my control.

I also think there needs to be much more information and coaching for the beginning player and maybe less knowledgeable player to be able to really get the most out of this game.

Sorry if it sounds like a mini review but just a couple of thoughts!:)

Screw the IPL, I would prefer some more proper DOM leagues like NZ and SA.
I'm sure you could just implement them in the exact same way as AUS, as they both have six teams and have similar competition formats.

These are some changes which I suggested for ICC 2010, and I'm not sure if they've been implemented as I'm currently waiting for the CD version to come out.

Better regen system. Make it so they don't get selected for ENG as there rating is good. I had a guy who averaged 30 in like 15 FC matches and he didn't even make it into my XI and he got selected for ENG after playing 2nd XI cricket.

Have to make some player randomness. On every game they same 20 year old's end up on top of player rankings by 2015 almost every game. This would actually mean you have to work out who is good and who is not.

Have scouts to scout at youth talent and other teams.

Better training programme, maybe training reports and things like that so you can keep an eye on players.

Maybe have bowling preferences as there are batting ones, don't really see any negatives to that.

Maybe increase game play/graphics a bit as quite often I see a guy hit it and its gone to the boundary before my fielder has moved. Then you go to the field setting and the shot was right next to where the player was...

On very defensive they should not get out trying to slog, that just doesn't happen.

Have the ability to arrange your own tours etc. maybe like take county teams on pre-season tours.

Add a manager mode where you can get fired and re hired etc.

Better shot variation as I don't see them play straight very often. At the moment the are very square of the wicket orientated. Take away the shot where they move a meter outside leg and try cut it...

Better commentary, it has been the same for years now.

Instead of; "And that's four". Change it to; "Player X backed up and hammered that one through the off side for four. He's just looking better and better here as he approaches his fifty."

Instead of; "And the umpires given it". Change it to; "Up goes that dreaded finger. It pitched outside off but straightened just enough to leave Player X stranded on the crease line. There would be a riot if that one wasn't given."

Maybe introduce venue's like in the old ICC's. Just to add some more realism to it.

More statistics, as that is what cricket is all about.

That was all copied out of what I suggested for ICC 2010.

Here is something else that I wrote about having more Game Modes, which you may want to read:

It may be a bit to early to suggest ideas for the next ICC 2010.
But i just have some comments and solutions concerning it.

In ICC 2009 and all the earlier editions i feel it lacks career modes as you can only really captain/manage 9/10 international sides as well as the 18 county sides.

The obvious solution would be to include more leagues which i think they are thinking of doing such as the Australian one and the IPL.

Another solution that occurred to me that i would think would be much easier to implicate would be a manager career.

This would involve starting at the bottom coaching a county team (or even 2nd XI then full county team) then maybe moving up to the likes Bangladesh and onto India etc...(this would work better when they introduce more leagues).
This would be similar to that of football manger where you could get fired and re hired etc... and build up your ranking points by winning titles
making more teams want to hire you.
They could also introduce more manager basis things( i no at the moment it is more of a captain).

Also a really good idea would be to introduce a player career (you can kind of do this at the moment be re naming a player).
This would involve starting at the bottom at maybe a club team (just following your player not captaining whole team) and move up through county, IPL and then onto country and THEN get the change to captain your side, you could then retire then go onto be a managing.

They could introduce lower level club teams or make 2nd Xi's playable with Regen's kind of like FIFA manager.

At the moment i feel it is a bit repetitive, I only buy ICC every 2-3 years as there aren't enough changes. I feel they really need to build up the different game modes add to the "captain" at the moment with "manager" and "player".

I also wrote this later in the same thread:

Maybe at the beginning of the game you can make a player and put him in your county team or aussie domestic team if they have them etc.

It could work something like this, most of it on drop down menus:

Player name: ...
Player type: opener, batter, batter keeper, keeper, all rounder, bowler
age: under 20 as they haven't player FC cricket before
Batting Style: Right/Left , how aggressive e.g: (very agr, agr, mod, def, very def), leg/off preference, pace/spin
Bowling style: type (RF, RMF, RFM, RM, OS, LS, SLA, LM, LFM, LMF, LF), how aggressive (same as above), maybe preferences etc
and whatever else goes into a player

Or players don't start off with preferences but they get them after maybe 20 games according to how they have played, and they can change over time.

and then have like numbers for each stat on a 1-5 basis and let players select how good they are. (im just going to plug some numbers in)
eg: for a batsmen - second team average
1 (average player, very hard) 30-35
2 hard 35-40
3 normal 40-45
4 easy 45-50
5 (great player, very easy) over 50

and just randomly generate an average between what they selected maybe have one for part time bowling and one for fielding etc. Those very hard, hard, normal, easy, very easy are just difficulty levels. Very hard is your an average player and need to train him up etc and it would be easy for a guy with high second team average as he is already good

and then you what get a player e.g:
Fred Smith, Lancashire, age 19, batsmen, RHB. LS
second team batting average : 44.44
bowling : 39.22 @ 3.5 (only part time)
salary : 22,000

Hedger also said this in the same thread:

"Player Name:
Age set to 17 or 18 (only one though)
Player Type: Batsman, Allrounder, Keeper (Batsman), Bowler
Batting Style: Right/Left Handed, Leg/Off Side pref. Front/Back Foot pref. Pace/Spin Pref. and aggressiveness is set randomly.
Bowling Style: Right/Left Handed, Seam/Spin Bowler and it will automatically choose (e.g. If you choose Right hand and Seam, you could get Right arm medium, Right arm medium-fast, Right arm fast).

Skills automatically set to a guy with international potential by the time he's about 24 or so."

and then put that player into your county team as like a 20th, 21st player etc and try and make them into a good international player, at the moment it would only really work for England thought because only one domestic competition.

that's just an idea not really sure if that is kind of idea others looking for
and then you got manager mode where you get sacked and re hired etc with more manager stuff than there currently is etc i wont go into that

Sorry for the massive essay, if you've bothered to read till the end.

Tis why I've always wanted to be able to arrange international tours within certain parameters based on teams placings and who they are for historical reasons.

For example the year before the series starts you are able to choose the amounts of Tests/ODIs/T20s. For series such as the Ashes there should be rules that mean there has to be 5 or 6 tests, 3-5 ODIs and 0-2 T20s.
While for teams where there is no "historical series" you should be given a bit more leeway but given a vague number you have to play in relation to how close you are in the rankings. So for example two team ranked 1 and 2 in the test rankings would have to play 3-5 matches while teams ranked 1 and 7 would only be able to play 2-3 tests.

Basically something along these lines would allow people who find a certain format boring and would just skip it can cut down the number of matches without just not playing them but, more importantly, a system whereby as time elapses you can allow teams who progress from where they are now to play more games. For example Bangladesh who usually progress to be a decent team but you can barely play them as the tours are set in stone.

Something that would be fairly easy to implement and would vastly increase the playablility long term internationally.

Also I think that being able to be sacked, move club and retire is something that would also reallly add to the game.

- Speedometer telling delivery speeds.
- Different Bowling deliveries - Slower Ball. Swing. Reverse. Googly. etc
- Bowlers better with new ball old ball.
Kolpaks being available in later years? Not sure of this was in 09 but eventually all the Kolpaks disappear.
- Players retire form different forms of the game. --> Tait etc
- Selecting to be Coach of only one or two formats not all three. I personally dislike 20/20 and would rather not have to manage them at all.
- Coach sackings and signings --> Start with just your 2nd XI and working up to first XI and then International.
- Run outs at bowlers end? Is that already in the game?
- All the countries First Class competitions. AUS was a good step in this direction.
- Fielding and wicket keeping stats.
- One Day, 20/20 and Test specialist.

Some of this may have already been said, but I haven't read through the thread..

- Way more domestic leagues (can be unlicensed, just make them)
- Official editor for players, teams and competitions (will void online play if used on players)
- Profiles for coaches
- Players can go into coaching after retirement
- Proper signing system for coaches with contracts
- Better announcement of prize money
- Players can retire from individual formats
- AI International selection based on form and not rating
- Ability to hire scouts
- Uncontracted players can be signed mid-season
- Better player search function
- Player pictures available on profile (only need to make a few, modding community will do the rest)
- More realistic injuries including long-term
- Far improved records system (all-time international run-scorers, ODI run-scorers and heaps more including stuff like youngest players, oldest players, biggest wicket hauls)
- Player history tab (includes what club, what year, runs scored, wicket taken, average for that year)
- Retirements announced throughout the season
- Improved training system
- Dynamic events? (e.g. new Test nations, competitions expanding, new teams in domestic structure, new rules)

Stolen from FM, have a current ability and a potential ability which the difference will affect development and PA rather than having a fixed value all the time could have a range of values (like in FM, -9 is equal to 150-180 out of 100, I think) and can be anywhere in between just to add some randomness to it. One reason why I really enjoy FM as it's not the same thing over again.

And the rest of the stuff I would have suggested has been covered by Blake.

IPL should be there. Without it the game is looking boring. They should release it fast. :facepalm

I disagree. There is already a lot of 20/20 cricket in the game. And there are people who like 20/20 and people who dislike it. I don't see why they would add the IPL when its only going to appeal to half the current users (maybe some new Indian fans)? I would prefer more Domestic cricket (including India's) would attract more interest form a wider assembly of fans.

Though saying this I'm still more of a fan of the gameplay updates not so much the addition of new competitions.

Personally, there are a few things which I think would really add something to the game:

1) The ability to see International Fixtures for the next season. I know this isn't such an issue now that you know if an Overseas player is available for the whole season or not, but I'd still like the chance to see when my players are going to be missing the next season, so I can plan for it. I.e. get two good overseas players for half a season each, rather than a good one for a few months and an average one filling in for a few weeks.

2) 2nd XI Scorecards. It's good seeing averages for who is in form, but I'd love to see a simulated league or similar. It doesn't have to be playable, but you learn a lot more from players knowing who they've been playing against. I think it would be decent to work out whether my out of form batsman has scored runs against a good bowling attack or not.

3) Captain changes. A bit lower down the pecking order for me, but the ability to change teams, or perhaps even give up on a County to concentrate on an International team would be good. Even having a choice between International jobs would be good for me. I.e. a decent season sees you being offered the Zimbabwe job, whereas a great season lets you take on Australia or India.

I forgot to say, in the 2nd XI, any spaces could be filled by Youth players, I.e. the ones that will be available to sign at the end of the season, so you can almost see how they get on before deciding whether to promote them to the first team squad or not.
