Pollard’s retirement means one less WI player that casuals think should have been in the WI team and was being kept out due to politics. :rolleyes

Not surprised by Billings’ decision, he’s got a reputation as a spin player and he’s the current backup to Foakes too. If the latter’s batting returns continue to falter and his keeping hasn’t recovered to the world class levels that everyone was believing it to be Billings has a chance of cracking the test side. A subcontinental WC also means he has a fairly good shout at making the ODI squad.

The only reason Pollard might choose retirement in IPL over playing for any other side would the fact that MI will pay him more as a batting coach than what he would have made as a player after going into auction.

Good riddance. I have always felt Pollard was way past his prime.

He did his bit in a few games for MI, but that apart, he certainly was the elephant in the room for them. Happy that MI chose to part ways with him. One of the reasons he might have retired though is the fact that no one would have bid for him. Well, I wouldn't discount KXIP and SRH goin after him tbh, but really Pollard was finished.

If by player you meant that nobody would have picked him up then you’re right.

Alex Hales has pulled out

Not sure why unless he’s aiming for an ODI return. Would have fetched a good price in the auction after his WC exploits.

I’d have retained Sanjay Yadav unless he was absolutely crap in the nets. Meredith or Sams could have also been retained too. I suppose they’re now aiming to get one of the big three all-rounders in the auction instead.

Rayudu’s still in that CSK squad… oh dear.

CSK needs a good overseas pacer with the exit of both Jordan and Milne. Pathirana still has a long way to go IMO. Wouldn’t surprise me if they were also in the hunt for Curran though, 20Cr left with just 2 overseas spots remaining is overkill.
