Despite Chepauk being the least suitable surface for him and despite my own reservations about him as a T20 cricketer… if Stokes takes the IPL even semi seriously… I think CSK is the ideal place for him. The side is filled with mentally strong players and there’s a good dressing room culture with a coach who’s been here for ages. There’s a huge fanbase too. If they can get Stokes to buy into that and line him up as the captain properly this could work out very well.

CSK also has the most flexible batting lineup in the IPL with only the openers being fixed spots which means they can fiddle around with him very well in the order and play the matchups correctly. They might even not opt to play Conway now and open with Stokes.
