Here's the first update.

Great day for me today.

I top scored for my team with 61 off 76 balls and took 3 catches at slip.

Result:

Centurions CC ( my club ) : 218/6 ( Iniyan 61 )
New Star CC : 201/9 ( Rahul 52* , Gobinath 5/22 )

Man of Match: N.Gobinath ( 8 - 3 - 22 - 5 ) my team-mate.

This guy is a superb bowler - Left arm fast, real fast. The fastest I've ever played with. A good middle-order batsman as well. I took a catch off his bowling the first ball of the second innings. The ball nearly tore my fingers apart.

As for batting, I had no problems and the number 2,3 and 5 batsmen played with me in the state U19 team. So we have a great understanding.? I played a foolish shot to get caught at mid-wicket. I'm a poor player of legspin
for a left-hander because my forte is off-side. I just chiped one into the air to mid-wicket.

Anyway, my new coach and team-mates are happy with my performance.?

BTW, these matches are league matches. This is actually my first experience at the league level. My team is one of the better teams in the state, if not one of the best. We are in the "A" League.

Good iniyan as u r proggresing...i am still stuck at the district level .And i am just waiting for a break.Anyway 3-4 days back i scored 29 runs in 24 balls its my highest score though in district level.

Well, Insha, keep trying. Improve on what you find lacking in. It took two years for a club to contract a player who is the first from the state to get into any sort of position capable of an India cap. It's been two years since I was selected for the U19 camp.

Yeah i bowl very well,i got all varitie's.But i really stuggle while i bat.My batting is lil bit unorthodox...so just trying to improve on that and i will reach a higher level deffenetly.

What bat are you? LHB or RHB?

My problems are with the spinners. I play the fast bowlers superbly. No problems with the shortpitched ones as well. I'm a compulsive puller. You would expect that for a guy who has played all his life on mats laid on rock hard clay soil.

I'm wonderfull on the off side and most of the times, I play in the 'V' but my weakness is the mid-wicket region. Two out of three times I play there the ball will be in the air. This is one happy thoughts of a thing when playing leggies. As for off-spin, I play them better, I can play on the off-side or inside out shots,. anyway, a good spinner could trap me pretty easily.

I am Left handed bat and a right arm bowler.I love to pull and hook the ball.I am a good player in the area of mid-wicket and covers and mid off.But not in the ares of mid-on and offside square area.And i like to play leg spinners and off spinners both.But fast bowling really pisses me off.I bat best at No.4 because i play spin well.

I got my first century for my new club yesterday. 121* off 136 balls. The match was abandoned due to rain. I don't think this century will count in the league system.

Tell you what, we had a great time batting. We won the toss and elected to bat. This one is the only turf in Pondicherry and the ball doesn't raise over the knees. We put on 260 for no loss :o . The other guy was on 130* off some 110 balls, I think. The match was abandoned when we were at over no. 40 with 10 more overs to go.

Come on guys, all but one were in U 19 appearances. This last one is my first in two years and also in the league level. The real competiton starts now.

We have got guys who score centuries once in three matches in U 19 level.

Mine is one in 8. -_-

An unusual match has been organised in here to celebrate Andrew's birthday , just joking. An Left-handers XI vs Right-handers XI has been organised on August 31.

I'm proud to say that I have found my way as the opener in the LH team, after just 3 performances. :

We have got a terrific bowling line-up - two express bowlers, two medium-pacers and one left arm chinamen - but the problem comes in batting. There are 5 specialist openers including me and we are the better batsmen in the side. There is no middle-order batsman. To add to our woes the RH team has two class spinners. We have the best wicketkeeper/batsmanin the state in our team:cheer:. A wonderful bat he is. That should be a boost for us. He will be opening with me.

And Andrew, has a match featuring players like this been played before?

I couldn't find any.
