Ganguly will be penalised if he opens the batting as he is not a regular opener.
He will take twice as long to get settled as a regular opener would so will be slow and vulnerable early.
Would you prefer to open with Laxman or Mongia?

It's in the rules for the simulation, only players marked as (OB) or (OB?) can open the batting without penalty.
Normally players have to spend a little while at the crease to get their eye in.
Ganguly is fine to open in ODIs however, the opening batsmen rules don't apply in that form.

Progress update of your 3 day warm up game.

Bangladesh Board President's XI v West Indians - 3 day match - Dhaka

West Indies piled on the runs in their 2nd warm up fixture of their 2 Test tour of Bangladesh.
Lambert reached his hundred off 99 balls as he added 220 with his opening partner before Campbell took over, eventually reaching an unbeaten double century.
Jimmy Adams also found form in his first bat of the tour posting an unbeaten 64 after a nervous start.
Slow left armer Enamul Haque took 2 wickets for the home side but the bowlers struggled with their accuracy in a poor display.

West Indies 478/4 declared

Progress update from 3 day warm up game.

Bangladesh Board President's XI v West Indians - 3 day match - Dhaka

With conditions overcast and the pitch uneven and aiding spin the home side were up against it.
Bishop took 3 early wickets to put his side on top before spinners Ramnarine and Hooper found increasing assistance from the pitch to dismiss the opposition for 144.
Naimur Rahman top scored with a fighting 42 but his side was asked to follow on 334 behind with an hour left on Day 2.

The West Indies won the toss and elected to bat on a pitch which was expected to deteriorate rapidly in favour of the spinnners.
Openers Lambert and Campbell piled on the runs, adding 220 for the first wicket as the home side quickly ran out of ideas.
Lambert reached his century off 99 balls and struck 20 fours and 2 sixes in an aggressive knock, eventually out for 144.
Campbell progressed smoothly to an unbeaten 200* as Adams also found some form with a half century.
Enamul Haque lead the home attack with 2 wickets.

Bangladesh President's XI v West Indians - 3 day match - Dhaka

With conditions overcast and the pitch deteriorating from uneven to heavily in favour of spin the home side faced an uphill struggle against a strong attack.
Bishop took 3 wickets to reduce the President's XI to 65/6 before Ramnarine and Hooper took over to dismiss the home side for 144 an hour before Stumps on Day 2.
Naimur Rahman top scored with 42 and the experienced Aminul Islam made 30 but it was a disappointing batting effort overall.
With a lead of 334 and 7 hours play left in the match the West Indians elected to enforce the follow on.
