Internet Downloads

Hmm.... I just checked my ISP's website to double check, and it states that I "will enjoy.....60 GB/month data transfer" (link). Now I am wondering, how does that translate for data usage, becuase I am quite active when it comes to "data transfer", be it watching YouTube videos, surfing the web, not to mention downloading or uploading stuff from the web (why even today I downloaded, installed and then uninstalled Houdini Apprentice Edition for no apparent reason :)). So considering that 60 GB/month includes uploading and downloading, how good an amount (or bad) is it in terms of data transfer?

Thats fantastic, I only have 6 Gig to use. And that includes browsing, Downloads, uploads, Youtube - the whole shabang. And Iam struggling to keep it down and I dont even download much! All Im downloading is like 2 songs every few days.

Capped internet is absolute evil :p. ISPs around the world need to grow up and let everyone share the knowledge and watch youtube without any limits. Me and Aussie1st have unlimited data usage package but has some caps during peak hours (4 pm to 12:00 midnight).

Naveed, 60GB should be more than enough unless you are downloading movies every day.

We were the lucky ones Sid, no more unlimited package floating about.

:o Really! I have an Off Peak limit of 4 gig, which means during the times of 12pm and and 12am. And a normal Limit of 2 gig during the remaining hours, its crap I know.

You must have a really bad ISP (It is starting to sound like you have Optus)

Yeah, you guessed it! I have Optus! Are they shocking?
Not shocking, just bad value for money. Technically I have Optus Broadband, but I get it through a different company that sells it much cheaper. The plan I have charges almost 1/2 as much for what Telstra charge for the same thing (it might be 2/3s of what Optus charge but I didn't look)

Now now Syl, you're getting my hopes up. :p
On a more serious note though, this thread has really made me think about how I use my data transfer quota. I am thinking about downloading ISP monitor first thing in the morning in order to ensure that I use my quota modestly. Only one question though-does ISP monitor use too much memory to slow down PC performance?

I have a in 1 GB limit, although I have night unlimited usage. I think 400 MB is normal, 300 MB has been used up this month from my account just for browsing.

Which connection do you have

what else !!! our very own BHARAT SANCHAR NIGAM LIMITED :p

i have an unlimited connection package from BSNL itself....no probs for me ;)

I have 2 Internet connection from BSNL :)

1. UL 900 Plus
2. 256 Kpbs

I'm on a 20GB on peak and 40GB off peak plan with Optus for about 70 bucks I think. Is that good or bad?
