Hey guys,

I've been having problems with my internet recently with my internet just randomly cutting out. I've noticed that any downloads I've been making are extremely slow and any videos I watch cut out halfway through and don't load any further, my msn and other chat windows just cut out too. I don't know what is happening with it, is it a problem my end or is it NTL's problem?

Any help is appreciated, thanks.

Yeah do a spyware check and a virus check. If that doesn't work, phone up your ISP. btw how to you connect to the internet?? Wireless?

Both of you two :p, it is the ISP, I am dead certain. NTL's reputation speaks for itself.

Well we will phone them at some time when it's possible, thanks for the feedback.

Are you running a router ? if so try turning it off from the power untill its cold and turning it back on

Try a direct connection to the modem and see if it exhibits the same issue. Also, is this wired or wireless? If it's wireless, you may also want to try changing channels.

Reset the router to factory defaults and reconfigure it.

Upgrade the firmware to the latest version.

Could also be your modem playing up

Since you are in England, its now actually Virgin Media and not NTL as Virgin bought them. I am running with Virgin perfectly.

I'm running Virgin through a router and everything is fine.

Trying resetting the Virgin modem and the router (it's what they'll tell you to do if you ring up). Also, check on the Virgin website to see if there is any planned maintenance or known problems in your area. Might also be worth checking your cables are all in good order.

Failing that it's time to do a virus and spyware scan.

I've had it up to my neck with Virgin now! My Mum won't even phone them to see what's up. I am extremely frustrated as nothing seems to fix it, meaning we'll have to either stick with this poor connection or we'll have to shell out a fortune for a 'professional' to come and click on a few icons and just say he's stumped, and spending shed-loads of money is something we cannot do due to the current situation my family is in...

you could always email them, if the internet is working :p. otherwise try a google search seems to fix everything.

Email - Same as phoning them, by Mum won't do it for some reason

Google search - Tried, nothing.
