iPhone 4

Kshitiz, you hate Apple, I get it :) I'm ok with it.

Yeah today I can say that, and I have bucket full of reasons to back my hate, which I can't list all at once, but lets just say I hate everything starting from their dictating practices to the "We know what's right for our customers, even the customers don't" attitude.

Then your opinion is fine with me :) Personally, I love Apple products, they're amazing, and there are hundreds of thousands of people who'll agree with me, just as there will be the same number to disagree.

We don't all have to agree in life, Kshitiz ;) Just knowing you're wrong is good enough for me.

End of the day the iPhone has become a massive brand with a cult following who will buy Apple's next device even if they sell an air-filled container.

I've always believed in "value for money" and so far I have never seen an Apple product which justifies that or even remotely comes close. Always preferred the Creative players to the iPods, PCs to Mac, BlackBerry to iPhone.

Finding it extremely tough to disagree with kshitiz. My biggest problem with Apple's practices are that they can tell their customers to sod off but people will still flock to the stores and buy their overly priced products. This could (probably will) lead to other companies releasing their smart phones prematurely, in essence releasing an inferior product than their predecessors that simply look better to try and keep up with Apple.

I am in love with my Moto Droid and hope Droid 2 and X are much better phones, but unfortunately I highly doubt it right now...

I am not an Apple fanboy, but I have so far loved the iTouch and I want an iPhone 4 to replace it. I am not a fan of the Mac's of Apple (because I am a hardcore Windows fanboy). But i am kind off sucked into Apple's style of designing their products and selling them even though you might find better products at cheaper rates.

If you like the iPod Touch, then you're going to be able to jump straight into the iPhone. (but not literally, these things are expensive!)

I know there's a lot of hatred towards the company, and we all know Kshitiz loves giving his opinion (Apple v the rest of the world, PC's v Mac's, PC gaming v Console gaming) and he's wrong on just about every level!

Apple do control things, too much, even I agree on that count. But boy, they do things right inside the phones.

Plus, being at university studying management to some degree, man! Do they do advertising so well.

Their computers are simply awesome. I am sick and tired of PCs dieing within a year or year and a half after purchase. PC support is simply terrible. They look great on paper but fall apart so fast.

Mac's on the other hand, are totally different. I love the OS too.

This thread is about the iPhone 4, not PCs and Macs so let's stop the PC vs. Mac pissing contest. We've already determined that neither side is correct since the debate is completely based on personal preferences and experiences.

Coming back to the iPhone, this is the one Apple product that I've actually considered owning/own. I've used several different Apple products (iPods, Macs, Mac Pros, etc.) but the iPhone is the only one that stuck on me. Coming from a BlackBerry 8310, the iPhone was nothing but a major upgrade.

There's also no arguing that with the first iOS, originally targeted to the first iPod Touch about 3-4 years ago, Apple set the standard for phone operating systems. They revolutionized the whole mobile application development platform from both an SDK perspective as well as UI perspective.

The antenna problem is obviously a big one and one that Apple should have addressed better than they have so far. Let's see how they end up fixing it.

I still remember when the Motorola RAZR was like, the phone to have. I swear, it was bigger back then than the iPhone is today.

And now you look back (it was only what, 7 years ago) and it's absolutely nothing.

How technology changes =/

Just sent my iPhone 4 order off :D The Apple Store says it ships in 3 weeks, so I'm hoping I get it through pretty soon. I cannot wait to get my hands on one, just wish I had the cash to go and buy one on Launch day. Ah well, least it'll only be 3 more weeks of putting up with this god awful LG GB102.

Dan, take my advice. Get a bumper, get a DECENT screen protector for front and back. I've got the bumper, and a ████ protector, gunna put up with it, but its awful.

Let me know when you've got it, i'll try out facetime with you :)

How much is this?

$199 with a 2-yr contract at AT&T (for the 16GB version)
$299 with a 2-yr contract at AT&T (for the 32GB version)

Not sure how much it is if you buy it without contract (must be $499 or 599 odd).

I am getting the 16GB version with AT&T in September/October (waiting for a good transparent skin case to release since the iPhone 4 is thinner and the shape is different from 3GS). I dont want those silicone cases since I want to be able to see my iPhone in its original 3D view

I think I should just get that. fearsome tweak the pad.

And ya, i hate having a fat ass case. What's the point of that? You are protecting your phone but you never get to see it
