Is Andrew Flintoff a one series wonder?

And English parents. So his link to South Africa is that he was simply born there?
Yup. There is nothing wrong. I was born in Hong Kong, won't stop me from playing for India/UAE :p . I know a friend (Indian) born in Kenya, doesn't mean anything really...

So what, he made a mistake, has Vaughan never made a mistake
in his captaincy career before?, if you think he hasn't, you're a fool.

I dont think thats the point, and I think you have to realise that yes, Flintoff & Pietersen etc... have played a bigger role with bat/ball(in Flintoffs case) than Vaughan in recent times(when they have been on the up) but you also have to realise that their is the mental side to cricket too, and I think Vaughan vastly outweighs Ponting in that sense. I believe that because Vaughan lifts his side no matter what situation. (even if they do lose he still lifts them) and he is always full of encouragment and he is always so positive. Do you remember Ponting's field's in the Ashes(at times pretty poor) and he really didnt lift his teams when they were in trouble that seemed to be Shane Warne and not with his motivational skills but with the ball - sure Vaughan's fields arent perfect but they were much better than Pontings. And if you even read Freddie Flintoffs book "Being Freddie" he talks about how Vaughan has helped him as a player because unlike Nasser Hussain he is full of encouragement and doesn't heap extra pressure onto his players to perform, and says that its no surprise why he is playing his best cricket under Michael Vaughan.

I know these games are very very important to you australians but outside australia they're not.

It didn't seem like that to me, the crowds were pretty dissapointing to be honest, they better be better in Sydney, although im sure they will be.

Mentally i think ponting is a far better captain then Vaughan. And hes a far better batsman aswell. His fielding placenents in the ashes werent great but in other games his field settings are excellent and better then Vaughans. And vaughan doesnt lift his team. its people like flintoff(not in the super series) and pietorson that lift the team.
Vaughan is an overated captain.

Well on the basis of the Ashes most people would have come to the complete opposite conclusion. All the pundits I read commenting on the series said that Vaughan had been the better captain by far.

I don't remember many times if any when Ponting out captained Vaughan in the Ashes. And he's not overrated you idiot.

Andrew Flintoff is the best all rounder in the world, you like him or you hate him you have to belive he is no one hit wonder, Jarod D or whatever his name is talking s*** Freddie is there for england when he needs to be, I hate to disagree with richie benuad but freddie is not a bowling alrounder, He has proved during the ashes that he is a genuine alrounder

I think Flintoff is the complete all rounder. His batting is just amazing and he bowls quite well.

His problem is that he tends to get out in the 70's and for every half-century-plus score, there are three wasted starts.

i donno if its true but he doesnt seem to bowl great and bat grear in the same innings,? am i just plain wrong or right?

Edgbaston, Oval. Bowled and batted well there. He didn't bowl well in the ICC series but got more runs than Kallis and Lara put together :p
