Mongoose Bat

I remember the Channel 9 commentators talking about it, can't remember if it was Pollard or Warner but they also have one of those. Was wondering what it looked like and wow that is one crazy looking bat.

Found one

We know L Modi, he'll make it compulsory if it's a big hit :p

You'd get some serious power with that.

Gazza added 0 Minutes and 49 Seconds later...

Hmm, that pull shot looks very unnatural.

Nothing new, was used by a couple of players in the HRV cup (New Zealand).

It was Dwayne Smith - close :p

His normal bat is a Mongoose brand too.

How will Hayden face yorkers? Squat? :rtfl

The same way he faces normal yorkers. The face of the bat may be smaller, but due to the long grip it's still the same length as a normal bat. It's not like using some crazy mini-bat. The main issues could come against a fast bowler bowling short, as there's far less margin for error. Instead of getting a top edge if you mis-time one, you cop it on the helmet.

Playing and missing shouldn't be anymore of an issue with the top players as it is with a conventional cricket bat either. For the average joe it'd be a problem, but not for a professional top order batsman. Someone like Hayden would be hitting the middle of the bat with regularity, so having a smaller face wouldn't affect that at all. It's an innovative design, and I'm looking forward to seeing it in action.

Not Only Hayden ,but also Symonds and Dwayne Smith will be using the bat as they are the Ambassadors for Mongoose bat

The Mongoose bat has been designed specifically for Twenty20

The Mongoose is the most radical change to cricket bat design since 1771

The MCC Laws sub-committee has confirmed that the Mongoose bats are legal and allowed to be used in all levels of cricket. They conform to the new version of Law 6 and Appendix E, which came into force on 1st October 2008

The Mongoose has been scientifically proven by Imperial College to offer batsmen 20% more power and 15% more bat speed than a conventional bat.
