Mongoose Bat

So they can use the Mongoose in an international game too? WOW! I guess a few players can now get the bat and use it when the slog overs in an ODI are on.

I think it's stupid but I guess if the ICC say it's legal ok.

I guess it leads to a more attacking game from both teams, would be interesting to see if wickets were easier to come by against batsmen using it.

A bit dubious of swapping bats, need to make sure that's not taken too far. As it is what's to stop a batsman playing out vettori or shakib with a conventional bat then switching to mongoose when the dodgier pace attack of each team comes in and then back again?

Try to fliping play a short ball with the bat, you will be totally owned.

you'll have to make sure you swing early to hit a shortball i guess. but bascially there's no chance you''ll be able to block the ball.

The MCC have given it the green light as well.

Though it should be remembered that Mongoose is the brand/manufacturer. Though it'll probably just get called the mongoose bat as part of the language. Just like people refer to tissues as Kleenex's and any cola flavoured soft drink as Coke

Speaking of bats designed for Twenty20 Cricket didn't Gray Nichols devise a flat backed bat as well?

Now time to make a ball that swings 30cm more, has a seam that is 1cm more pointy and generates 10kph more off the pitch. Even it up for the bowlers I say ;)

You can still buy them down here... Never seen someone with one though.
Why the hell would you! Only cool kids use the back of the bat

In my opinion, the Mongoose is as good as the person wielding it, regardless of who bats with it, one success will be based on ability, however I believe it is still early to say what kind of impact using it will have in the IPL, even to date, a number of players have done better than Hayden in runs scored, 4s and 6s hit, after playing the same number of matches with him! On these Indian wickets it might be the ideal tool for the trade, a true test would be on wickets in South Africa, Australia or England where balls can coming seaming at the throat or face, it would be interesting to see a defensive shot using it, as one person already alluded to.
But nice to watch in action in the hands of Hayden.

Yeah well any cricket bat is only as good as the person wiedling it, just like any cricket ball is only as good as the person bowling and throwing it(fielding wise)
