We have no clue how hud-off would play like but I don't think it'll play like you said. If I'm targetting a specific shot and the ball doesn't bounce where I want it to then by reflex I'll be hitting on the defense or leaving it or playing some other safe shot. Obviously now if you keep playing the same shot to every ball you're bound to get out fast.

Also yeah I hope it makes it to online, this feature would be wasted otherwise. Let the players chose if they want huds in their games or not.

if in no HUD mode bowling is as said in interview where you cannot see the cursor till the last moment and u hv to guess the length then it is very good addition
also looking for gaps by looking around rather than just looking at the field map is a good introduction

hope this hardcore mode is available online though
