Yes, I saw him in a County Game recently, and he bowled well. Took 4 wickets for Nottinghamshire, I think it was.

He used to kind of be an ODI only type of guy. But he's really developed his bowling over the last few years. e's also a very handy and aggressive batsman.

They actually wanted him in SA for the ODI's but he was biter aout not being in the World up squad so declined. Now he only wants to be called up for test matches.

And Feelin Blue, here goes a link to the stats. it's relatively hard to find. Lots of clicking like a maze:

I reckon they need someone like Adams back in the side, they used to have such an amazingly flexible lineup with Cairns, Harris, McMillan and Astle all able to bat and bowl in varying degrees, in the case of Harris, I think it's been a harsh exile.

Basically, while you can't really hate blokes like Mills and Franklin, guys like Gillespie seem to have more off days than on. Why not have someone who has a chance of making up for a bad day with the ball?

Also, can we get Fulton on a plane?

Also, Also, Greg Hay is looking better and better.

Andrew Strauss had a pretty decent start to his stint playing for Northern Districts making 39 off 39 balls before being bowled by Bradley Scott. He took 2 catches as well in the bowlin effort but ND couldn't defend their total from Otago. Anyway here goes the results from the State Shield's first two rounds:

Round 1:
Otago took the opening honours in the first match of this year's shield on Saturday, beating Canterbury by a mere three runs at Alexandra. Derek de Boorder topscored for the home side with 52 not out as they reached 225 for 8. Canterbury got off to a slow start but were given hope through half-centuries from Kruger Van Wyk, Andrew Ellis and Chris Harris but ultimately came up short.

Sunday saw a record-breaking match at Eden Park. Rob Nicol and Richard Jones both struck centuries in an Auckland record stand of 242 to take the state to its highest one-day score of 342 for 5. Jones and Nicol came together in the 12th over to boost the total Northern Districts were gutsy in reply, reaching their second highest score of 306 for 8. BJ Watling and Mark Orchard both made fifties, but were ultimately unsuccessful.

Stephen Fleming and Neal Parlane put on a century stand to register a comfortable six-wicket win for Wellington against Central Districts in Wellington. Fleming reached 88, while Parlane was 94 not out as Wellington went past the visitors' 256 with ten overs to spare. Geoff Barnett topscored for CD with 75.

Round 2
Central Districts registered their second win of the competition at New Plymouth to climb to the top after beatin Canterbury. Canterbury's 198 turned up way short, with Central Districts romping to the win with more than 18 overs remaining thanks to Ross Taylor's 95.

Otago beat Auckland easily at Eden Park, leaving four teams with two wins in the first three matches. Opener Aaron Redmond's century took them to 292 for 8. It was his first one-day domestic ton, and his 109 came from 108 balls. In reply, Auckland gave game chase but were never really in the hunt, coming up short by 39 runs.

Northern Districts opened their account after losing the first two matches thanks to twin centuries by BJ Watling and Daniel Flynn. The pair boosted their side to 299 which Wellington never looked like getting close to, particularly when they stuttered to 4 for 77, and they finally pulled up 50 runs short at Cobham Oval.

State Twenty/20 game just finished between Canterbury and Auckland.

The game was tied so a bowl off was done.

Canterbury won it 5-3 with all 5 Canterbury bowlers hitting once

Was an awesome game.

Yeah that was a good match. They took ages trying to sort out the bowl off though. How hard is it to pick 5 bowlers? Anyway, I spose that'll be one of the only televised domestic games this season  Sky Sport is the reason cricket in New Zealand isn't as good as it was in the 80s or late 90s.

Friday Jan 25th - Northern vs Otago & Northern vs Central
Monday Jan 28th - Auckland vs Wellington
Sunday Feb 03 - Final

Sunday March 02 - State Shield Final

That's all they're showing. It's a shame they don't show more, but I guess there isn't a big population here who cares about watching it on TV. We get to see every side at least one in the Twenty/20 comp.

I can't get over the fact that Canterbury beat Auckland. That Auckland side is extremely strong. 8 current/ex international players and if Adams was fit, it would have been 9.

That was brilliant. What an amazing game. Northern managed to chase them down. How's captaincy was pretty bad I have to say.

McGlashan should have been in the Blackcaps over Hopkins. He's a much better batsman then player Hopkins is. What a great innings from him.

I was hoping for another bowl off though lol.

Yeah another bowl off would've been great. But what a day for Northern Districts eh? Excellent bowling display against Otago in the afternoon & then a fantastic run chase in the evening against CD. All in one day. But how about Ross Taylor's bowling eh?:p
