This series could potentially be awkward. We're coming off no cricket in ages, and Zimbabwe have just had series against Bangladesh and Pakistan in which they haven't done badly

I wouldn't be too surprised if we lose tbh. I mean I'm not really expecting us to do that great, we always do terrible at this time of the season.

I think the test match will end up as a draw, however I think we'll probably smash them in the limited overs side of it.

I hope BJ Watling gets picked, I haven't seen much of him but he looks to be a handy batsmen. Also their was a article on cricinfo today, It looks like Bennett will miss the tour.

Rainsford is close to full fitness, so he will hopefully gets a go in the Zimbabwe side. Cremer might take part in the series. :)

Some interesting names in there, good to see Aldridge finally getting a shot. Should have been in the team ages ago. Personally think Bracewell is too raw for INT selection.

Seems really strange to pick Aldridge now, really should have been given a go earlier. Not sure on the Bracewell selection tbh did he even do that well last season to warrant a call up? I also don't think they should ever have gone back to Patel things just seem to go in a circle with him, I think they should just leave him and move on to Beard, Astle possibly.

----------

Also how on earth does Bates not get a callup?? He is actually one guy that thoroughly deserves to be there I would have picked him well ahead of McKay, Bracewell and Aldridge.

Potentially interesting series, but kiwis surely have too much for Zimbabwe like Pakistan. There's a small gap from Bangladesh and Zimbabwe to West Indies, a bigger gap to kiwis and Pakistan, then another gap to the rest - although where Sri Lanka fall now is hard to tell, might be with the latter two.

I do wish Zimbabwe could field their strongest available players, or put another way all players eligible and good enough were selected/available. To have players like Goodwin not playing, I think Ervine said he'd return then did a U-turn to focus on playing for Hampshire etc, would boost them no end. Without a bowler like Streak though they will struggle against most decent sides, the batting frail against decent attacks.

Finally Nicol gets picked, he was the best batsmen and the second best bowler last season in our OD domestic competition iirc.

I'm not really sure what to make of Bracewell, considering his domestic stats aren't even any good. The talent's definitely there, so you have to hope that the selectors have got it right picking him.

A few other strange picks as well, but it is only Zimbabwe I guess.

Interesting and weird, is what i'll say about some of these selection.

Some of my thoughts

I agree that Bates should be there.

Broom should be ahead of Brownlee in the pecking order, consistency should always trump at the moment, a "one year wonder".

I'll just flat out say it: **** off Jeetan Patel.

Doug Bracewell, i'll simply state, THE NEXT RICHARD HADLEE!!! :D

Martin Gupill will probably score a Triple Ton
