Keegan: The Toon Are Ready

Kevin Keegan has today come out with just two days to go until the new season and claimed that his Newcastle side are fit enough and ready enough to start the new season with a bang. Keegan claims that he is pleased with his squad and he is not planning to bring in any more players to add to his recent signings such as Jonas Gutierrez, Fabricio Collocini and Danny Guthrie. Keegan also added that he already knows his starting eleven and that he has no injury concerns ahead of the new campaign. Keegan has also hinted that former Newcastle captain Alan Shearer is to join the Newcastle coaching setup along with Keegan and former Tottenham coach Chris Hughton. Keegan claims that his main aim this season is to try to break into the top four and qualify for the Champions League. Keegan also added that he is also aiming to win at least one piece of silverware this season and he is eyeing up the FA Cup. He was quoted as saying “I would love to win some something this season. I think that the league is out of our reach however I am confident that we can prove people wrong and break into the top four and take the club into the Champions League. I would really like to win a cup this year such as the FA Cup. I know that we start our FA Cup campaign starts of next January however I am relishing the chance of lifting the cup at Wembley.”

Sunderland Want Geremi on Loan


Geremi on his way out of St. James' Park?


Sunderland manager Roy Keane wants Newcastle’s midfielder Geremi on a season-long loan The Sun reports. However it is thought that Newcastle boss Kevin Keegan does not want to loan Geremi and Keegan would only sell him for the right price. It has been reported that Sunderland are asking to take on the central midfielder on loan as they cannot match Newcastle’s £3.5 million asking price. Geremi has recently been unsettled at Newcastle however it is thought that he would prefer a move to Spain rather than joining Sunderland.

Shearer Joins Coaching Staff

Newcastle United Football Club can confirm that Alan Shearer has joined the club?s coaching setup on a two year rolling contract. Alan will work along side Kevin Keegan and Chris Hughton as well as playing an important role in the development of youth and recruiting players.
