Nrl 2008

So your saying a 70s movie which didnt make the big screen would outrate rugby league... i dont think so. Australia is a sporting country, anything competitive they will watch. I hate AFL but would rather watch it than any daytime movie you can find.

(Cept for Mr.Majestik that was sick :p)
Its pretty facinating. Victoria and NSW are like different countries:p. How come you hate AFL? Dont understand the rules? That is the sports downfall and why it will never go international, so many techincal rules, but i guess being brought up with it it just becomes natural.

And yeh i think a daytime movie would really compete with a rugby game if it was shown. Compared to AFL rugbys not as free flowing and some would say 'more predictable' and linear compared with AFL.

Im positive i read somewhere that 'SBS's "Iron Chef" outrated the RL grand final in victoria....

In Melbourne its just how you are brought up... I live in Canberra, if your a private schooled kid your a Rugby Union fan and if your a Public schooled kid you love rugby league :).

I find AFL frustrating because they still miss set kicks... i know wind comes into it but cmon! SERIOUSLY! I also find the physical contact to be less confronting, you dont have to run straight into another player. Im sure AFL is more strategic and complicated but I assure you it takes more guts and determination to play Rugby League.

I also feel like Melbourne people are missing out... the team they have in their town are brilliant... I would kill for the set plays Melbourne have to be introduced for the Sharks. They are nearly unstoppable

Thats the flaw with rugby, is basically just a bunch of people running at each other, AFL just brings that constant speed and excitement. Id be facinated to see if junior paticipation is dropping off

And the reason they miss set kicks is because in rugby, most set kicks are taken by the kickers whos job is just to basically kick the goal (or whatever yous call it) where as in AFL, everyone has to do it and you'll find its alot harder to kick the smaller ball. When stuck JUST off it will move throught the air much more differently than a rugby ball would.

Ive found kicking an AFL ball to be much eaiser... yes accuracy is less but these guys do it for a living. When lining up to kick with no opposition and missing... its unacceptable.

The age old joke... Ohhhh I can see what your TRYING to do, so ill give you 1 point for it

lol Yeh thats kinda weird when you think about it. But it does give an interesting dynamic to the scoring. Such as if scores are level, a team basically just needs to get the ball over the line no matter what, a big like rugby;)

But then i can say, why when you score a try do they give you and opputuity to score extra points by kicking at goal, like, how random is that. Its kinda like if an AFL player kicked a goal, if her gets 10 spins on the hoola hoop he can have another 3 points. (ok that example was a bit extremem:p)

Its adapted from the NFL i presume... The "Extra Point" sort of thing, you will see man american things in games its just the impact they have on the world... (sad hey)

But then I would be accused of "Glory hunting". Aren't they the top dogs in the league? :p

Storm and Manly were in last years grand final and Storm won it. Even so I could still accuse you for Glory hunting because Manly were runners up :D :p

Interesting team by the Raiders, Campo and Carney the halves. If they get going they will run the Knights apart. But the attacking kicks is a real worry.

Bird has signed a deal that will keep him at Cronulla till 2012. That is very good for us Sharkies to secure a player like that up for till the end of his career.

Yeah very good news for us Sharkies fans

Also was wondering are we having some sort of tipping league this year?

You set it up and I'm sure there will be others happy to join.

Interesting, I'm so far behind that I just noticed Telstra stadium changed their name to ANZ stadium. Got me mixed up with the Broncos old stadium.

I would describe Stgeorge's effort as disgraceful, or AFL.... They didn't tackle!

FFS going down 24-16 is a compliment to our efforts. We deserved to lose by more then 8.
