Thats fantastic for India! Only 38 runs scored off 8 overs after it was 60/1 in 10 overs? and two more wickets!!!! Yes!! I can sense a win here for India!

Come on India!!!!!

If India wins here, it would be in a superb frame of mind for the semifinal against New Zealand! New Zealand are going to face both India and Australia in the 2 semifinals! So in all, New Zealand gets two chances to enter the final whearas both India and Australia get only one chance each! Lucky New Zealand!

P.s: The above is being done to complete this story thread! This story thread was going according to the multiplayer Super Cup tournament but since the tournament is scrapped, this story thread now goes in this direction to be completed!

Aus 100/3 after 18 overs.

Ponting and Hayden takes Australia to 83/1 in 14 overs with Kartin putting some breaks on scoring but Pathan continued to be expensive on other end. In 15th over Ganguly gave ball to Harbhajan from Pathan. Just when Ponting started to look set, adelivery from Harbhajan kept low and Ponting completely missed it to be bowled for 19. Australia lost its second wicket at 92.

In 18th over Zaheer replaced Kartik and once again a bowling change working for India as Australia losses Hayden this time who was looking really good today. It was second catch for Dravid and Australia is now 98/3 after 18 overs. Hayden scored 41 before getting out. Now some sort of trouble for Aussies with two new batsmen Matyn and Katich on crease. India is now slowing down Aussies run rate and creating some pressure. The required run rate is now 5.69 for Australia to win.

Australia 140/3 after 25 overs

Katich and Martyn build up another good partnership as Australia looks to comeback in the match. Ganguly made continuous changes in bowling by bringing Harbhajan and Sehwag to bowl but with no success. Katich has looked aggressive with some really good cover drives. Spinners for India have brought the Australian run rate in control as now spinners are bowling from both ends. India need to get 1 or 2 quick wickets to stay alive in this match. Still to come are in form Clark and Symonds who both have scored well in tournament so far. This match is becoming very exciting now. Required rate is 5.68 runs per over.

Australia 184/3 after 34 overs

Both Katich and Martyn continued to pick gaps for singles with some occassional boundaries. India on other hand tried by using spinners on the both ends. Kartik after first good spell was very expensive in other spell. Martyn and Katich thrashed him on all sides of wicket without much problem. Both batsmen have buid up a very good partnership of 83 runs. Due to some good tight bowling in the few last overs by Sehwag and Harbhajan, the required run rate is now over 6 run per over but Australia is still looking strong with 7 wickets in hand. Till last report Australia were 184/3 after 34 overs. They still need 98 runs to win from 16 overs at 6.13 runs per over. The Australian score would have been much less if India had done some good ground fielding. Their fielding was very poor with couple of free boundaries to Aussies.

Australia 216/4 after 40 overs

Just when things started to look easy for Australia, Harbhajan strucked for India. Katich who was now playing under the pressure of constantly increasing run rate tried to hit Harbhajan out of ground but in the end offered an easy catch to Yuvraj at long-on. Australia is now 193/4 in 36th over. Clarke replaced Katich in the middle. Martyn and Katich added 95 runs for the fourth wicket.

Martyn on the other end completed his half century off 53 bowls with the help 7 boundaries. After his 50 Martyn started to play in and out and scored some quick runs. Till the last report Australia had made 216/4 in 40 overs. They still need 66 runs to win off ten overs. Martyn and Clarke had added 23 runs so far between them.

Match down to nail biting finish with Australia on 264/7 from 46 overs. Lee and Hogg are on crease. Australia need 18 runs to win with only three tailender wickets in hand. Lets see if Lee and Hogg have the nerves to take their team to a win here.

I will post the detailed report tomorrow because it is very late now and I have to go to sleep. Sorry!

aus on the verge of a win..
its really hard to loose from this situation..

Australia 264/7. Still need 18 runs to win

The match now comes into the last ten overs. Ganguly tries to play a gamble here as he introduces Sachin Tendulkar in 41st over. But the plan backfired as Martyn and Clarke smashed 3 boundaries in the over and scored 16 runs off Sachin's first over. In 43rd over India got another wicket as Clarke was run out of a direct hit from Kaif. Clarke made 20 runs and Australia is now 242/5 with still 40 runs needed to win.

India now tries to comeback as Symonds is caught straight to Kartik off Zaheer. Symonds scored only 1 run. The match now heads towards an exciting finish as Martyn also goes clean bowled by Sehwag after getting an inside edge of an outside off stump delivery. Martyn made brilliant 75 runs and Australia is now 264/7 after 46 overs. Hogg and Lee are on crease. It will be interesting to see if India can pull an almost impossible win from here.

Now the hopes of an Indian win are just 2% ! The Aussies are known to be hard nuts to crack and 18 is too small a total for their tail!
