Batting at number 9

The selectors are losing out on some great talent then :p

Bad luck on not getting picked freddi. I'm sure you'll play next match

Game Day

Well I have woken up to a most pleasant surprise with Tom telling me Billy Godleman had been throwing up all night and I was in the side. I may be second choice but I didn’t care and was very excited on our walk to Lords. Mt debut for Middlesex and a game at Lords.

At first my stomach was fine but as we arrived at the ground Tom and I both got incredibly nervous and began to laugh about how much we could fail. After much hesitation we got to the meeting room where half the team where chatting and sat ourselves with Shah and Dalrymple. Shah was pumped although said he may be batting 5 and was almost 100% confident he was going to get a 50!!!!

The side was brought to us and I was batting 7 with Tom keeping at 9 and Suren-Sarvesh opening. Smith said I may not get a ball although could do. We all headed to the changing room where we had our pegs and I was net to Joyce and Shah. Sadly we were in our Blue kits but I was so pumped and hyped up I felt nothing could go wrong.

Styris was batting 5 and also very confident. He’s a nice guy and really enjoys the game and is always up to help youngsters like myself. At 17 I was the youngest although Godleman the sick man is also close to me in Age. Silverwood is not playing and will be watching from the bench (Literally the bench in twenty20) due to a niggle in his left hip.

So as Smith went out for the toss I was hoping we could bowl first as the pitch was wet and would be very nice for seam bowling. Sadly Smith came back waving to us and calling ‘Bloody lost the toss’ No-one was happy that we would have to bat but Suren and Sarvesh both looked confident as they walked out to face Tremlett’s first over.

Its lunch here and sadly I didn’t get a bat. We finished on 158-3 after being 60-0 from 10 with Suren and Sarvesh building a good partnership. Sarvesh was the star of the innings making 57 from only 30 balls and Ed Joyce made a rapid 50 smashing the ball to all parts of the ground.

Well you don’t get lunch in twenty20 so we are ready to go out and field, Shah has not stopped chatting about ‘If I’d have been 3 we would have got 200’. I cant really tell if he’s joking but we have been having a good laugh and everyone is pumped as we head out to Bowl at Hampshire

Well we started pretty well with them 60-0 from 10 with Rossco bowling with good pace and having a few close LBW calls. After 12 overs I was incredibly surprised that I got the nod to bowl. I started well with only one from my first over tossing it up and getting some decent turn twice Brown and then on the last ball getting KP to come down and he was lucky to get back into the crease before Tom took the bails.

Dalrymple got a wicket in the next over KP going for 12 and then I managed to get my first ever domestic wicket. It was a wide ball and the batter chased it chipping to back point for 30. It was an amazing sensation and I got a huge hug and congratulations from Tom as it hit me that 12 hours ago I didn’t even think I was going to play and now I was here getting the wicket that could almost have won us the game as they now needed 60 from 5 overs and were 2 wickets down.

YES, my debut and an awesome win and a great start winning by 9 runs in a close game and a very enjoyable one. I finished with figures of 4-0-22-1 and felt happy with my performance in the day. After the game we went out and signed autographs me and Tom actually getting asked by a few fans for our autographs and we had a good laugh with a few lads from Middlesex. They were good guys and it was amazing to feel like a real professional.

Tom kept very well not letting anything through him and only the one chance came his way which he snaffled of the bowling of Dalrymple to dismiss the mighty Kevin Pietersen and it was the first step on our way towards winning the game. He loved the day remarking at the end that he was the ‘safest pair of hands in Scotland’ to Owais Shah and this meant Shah starting abusing Scotland like their was no tomorrow. We all had a great time and it was awesome.

After a great day and a solid win Tom and I spent the evening playing Pro Evo and as usual I smashed him every game. Then I had an early night but lay awake for hour’s adrenaline pumping through my veins still reliving my wicket and the awesome days play. As I lay I was reminded of Innes and was slightly sad he was not selected, but forgot about it quickly and nodded off.

:hpraiseUpdates will get better as I get used to cricket 07 (GOT FOR X-MAS) and please please give ideas of how I can improve:hpraise
