20th January 2008

Well me and Tom have moved in, its an awesome flat with a tv and already with a PS3 we bought with our 'signing on fee' (100 quid each !!!) Its amazing to think I will be out playing cricket in only 10 days with professionals such as Kartik, Shah, Strauss and Ed Smith. Its been a good few months and although it was hard I dropped from school. I decided it was the right thing to do and it will help my hopes to become the best player in the world. I am now just waiting for my first net with Middlesex and although nervous I cannot wait till the start of the season.

Nice work mate, but ps3 costs more than 200 quid and if you got a nice tv aswell?

PS3 + One Game = 299 quid

100+100= 200 = Not Enough :p

Anyways, nice story mate cant wait for the update of the training session

1st February 2008

I woke up early morning and decided to have a shower, just before i got in i walked into Tom's room half naked and gave him a nice hard 'pinch punch first of the month' to wake him up. HE WAS NOT AMUSED.

We headed to the ground with our bags at 8 AM to arrive at quarter past and to meet the side at half past. We where yet to meet anyone in the squad meaning the only players i have met are Tom, Suren and Sarvesh.

As we arrived we went into the lobby and got sent straight through to the Lords Indoor School and nets. Although I thought we were early Finn and Silverwood were bowling of short runs and Shah was batting in the net. We walked in and straight away Silverwood introduced himself and i realised he was a really nice blokes. Tom chucked on his pads and before i realised i was marking my run and trying to rip some balls past the batsmen.

After 5-10 minutes of warming up i was getting words of wisdom from Karthik and enjoying my time with Silverwood more and more. The coach arrived and we were introduced by the coaches and got to shake hands. My proudest moment was shaking and getting a nod from Enlgland player and solid batsmen Owais Shah. With Strauss away on International Duty Shah and Smith were the most renowned batsmen.

Well im padding up but bowled prity average. I bowled good lines and good turn but Shah, Smith and even Silverwood all played me with ease. I can tell being a First Class player is more than its cut out to be not getting a wicket and being hit for more sixes than the whole of last season. Tom and Suren both batted in my nextdoor net and both played well even though sometimes Tom was struggling with the pace Suren looked class and punted Silverwood over the top more than once.

Sarvesh was bowling in my net and looking fiery, i wont get to face him as he is also padding up but i cannot say im dissapointed if you know what i mean!!!

So here I am and to be honest im not comfy. Silverwood a fast bowler in the county championship at about 80 MPH so in comparison to the 70-80 I have been facing on average this is going to be a crisp pace. I have played well, the pace of Silverwood and turn of Karthik troubled me at times but I felt comfortable not giving my wicket away and playing some fine shots in the process. Overall I’d say a good day that I enjoyed thoroughly.

After the day me and Tom went to get a bite at the café and met with Silverwood and Shah. It was a good hour or so talking about county cricket. The standard required and how much off-season practice is recommended. I hope I have a good time at this level and am looking forward to our next training and especially the bowling machine and seeing how I can improve on the video.

Well, the off-season and begining of the 08 season have been the best months of my life. Me and Tom have been playing a lot of off season cricket and also League firsts cricket for the Mashers side. Its a prity high standard and i have scored 344@84 in 6 games my bowling has also been prity good with 24 wickets at 21. Tom has scored a 200 runs and batted prity well but his keeping is coming on leaps and bounds and hes really happy with that.

Suren and Sarvesh have played 2 games each Suren averaging 32 and Sarvesh 21 (bowling only 7 overs with 1-21 overall) They have not played bat with Suren scoring 30,29,28 and 38 and Sarvesh hitting 21,21,22,22. The issue with both players is they havent gone on from the starts they have been making. The Middlesex season has gone ok being 4th in the One dayers and 2nd in the County Championship.

The twenty20 season will be starting very soon and me and Tom are pumped. We have worked so hard and although we will most probably not play the first game, i am hoping and have my fingers crossed !!!

The one negative has been my bat which snapped in two while facing the bowling machine. I am not worried and although am not sponsered bought a Gray Nicholls bat and am pumped to use it

The Twenty20 squads will be posted (MEMBERS WILL BE IN THEM)

and then I will be playing.
