PS3 Game Tweak

Wow you guys must be heaps better players than I am
Am busy with work so haven't played anything for most of the week will finish my test I am playing on the weekend and post the score.
Lee I dont want to sound skeptical but 127 from 27 overs is less than 5 an over and 127 from 21 overs if no runs were scored in the last 6 is about 6 an over.
Scoring 16 0ff 4 balls and then giving up and proclaiming that every ball could easily have been a 6 with your batters strength set at below 40% I find a little difficult to understand why dont you keep batting that way and post your score after say 20 overs to see if you can maintain that sort of onslaught. I am not having a go at you I just dont understand how I have been able to bowl for more than 80 overs and restrict the opposition to around four runs an over on average. We must have a different mindset the way we play the game. Anyway you guys asked me to post an unfinished experiment which I did it hasn't worked out for you so maybe your settings and mine differ. If I have time on the weekend I will post every setting for every player in the game I currently have saved to see where we differ. By the way how many runouts did you get in the all out for 127. I am thinking of dropping the batsmens run speed back to 50% from the 70-80% I currently have them set at. I bowl a lot of short balls by the way as I like to try and hit the batsman
I agree with the built in flaws that no tweaking will get rid of after all a rushed game was made available to us in the middle of an ashes series with promises of a patch to by people who either dont understand the game of cricket or think that 20/20 is the only way to play the game but I have stopped the slogfest where 100 runs or more are scored in a 10 over period
I have been able to bowl with a new ball on several occassions and I have had test matches go into the fifth day so the game has become a little morew enjoyable for me

Trust me i played the hell out of the game for 3 months when it 1st came out on level hard and i know i could have easily scored 300 runs inside 20-30 overs just playing ground strokes the way i tweaked it on normal level, as i said before batting now on hard difficulty is a good challenge but i fail to see how you can make a test last as long as you say unless you are as it was in the case of many players when the game 1st was released trying desperately to make that happen by not bowling certain deliverys or playing certain shots, blocking countless balls that dont need to be blocked, to me that is accepting a flawed product and putting up with it, pretending something is good when it clearly isnt,
I respect your advice and your experiment but im not going to waste anymore time trying to get a decent realistic test match because as i learnt way back in august in this game that is NOT going to happen.
I,ll have to stick to the short form of the game and hope the tweaks have worked there.

Fair enough you are correct in saying the game is flawed but I guarantee there is no way you are going to easily score 300 runs in 20-30 overs with the batters strength set below 40% no matter how many times you play it.
The only thing I do to make the game a little more realistic when batting is I don't move the batsman around to face up square with every delivery before I play it. This as you say is another flaw in the game as with most cricket games ever released you have far to long knowing what the delivery is going to do.
You still didn't answer how many run outs you got in that 27 over game. The run out bug is the biggest glitch in this game because you can't avoid it whereas the crazy slog fest is avoidable by field settings and tweaking timing and strength and excessive and easy catching can be made harder by lowering those attributes. I haven't played around with bowling yet as I have been concentrating on batting and trying to minimise the runout thing. Sorry this hasn't worked out for you but as I previously mentioned we all play differently we all have a different interpretation of how cricket should be played so therefore the enjoyment factor will be different for uss all

If i remember rightly there were 3 runnouts it still dont change my opinion that much, i just cant see myself playing how you do, as much as i want a test to last longer theres no way i can accept i have to play a way that is not natural to me, leaving easy balls just for the sake of it is a no no for me and negative fields hoping i dont get catching chances is just madness, last time i checked this was still a cricket game..

Unfortunately you seem to assume a few things about the way I play. Maybe you are one of those exceptionally talented gamers and if that is the case then probably no cricket game will ever be difficult enough for you to "experience a realistic" test match.

The things I don't do that you think I do are these.
I don't set fields so that I won't take any catches, I believe I have taken 5 or 6 catches in the game I am playing now, I have just adjusted the catching skills to below 30% so that not every catch can be taken with your eyes closed. I don't block countless easy shots, every playable shot that I can score off I take
I have adjusted the batting strength below 40% so if I have a brain spasm and start slogging everything I will be out cheaply. I have also in this last game reduced the batters running speed from 80% to 50% which makes it harder for me to run 2"s and 3"s which were way too easy before and it looks like although I won't believe it till I have tested it more reduced the number of near miss stupid run outs and only had 2 near misses (where I normally have around a dozen) and 2 actual stupid run outs (where 5 0r 6 isn't uncommon) in this current game in which 81.5 overs have been bowled.
Also even though I get the impression that you think other than batting on hard mode I haven't achieved anything else in a score of 354 by the AI in normal mode they only managed 5 sixes.
It wouldn't matter how negative I bowled in the original game, there is no one that would have been able to restrict the AI to under 30 sixes in that many overs or restrict the run rate to 4.4 so I must have achieved something.
What I do is set attacking fields and bowl to those fields as one would do in a game of cricket. I don't move my batsmen around so that every delivery bowled at me becomes an easy shot I just play from the middle of the crease and occasionally charge a spinner. I also do not bowl to obvious programming weaknesses where I know if I consistently put the ball in a particular spot I should be able to bowl the AI out for less than 130 in less than 30 overs. This to me is a stupid way of playing the game so you are correct I don't bowl certain deliveries that although in a realistic test match wouldn't take a wicket seems to on countless times in this flawed game.
The settings I have tweaked have made the game enjoyable for me to be able to play and if I can restrict the AI to less than 5 or even 6 runs an over, can bowl for more than 60 overs, can bat for more than 80 overs if I play sensibly, then the game has become playable to me and possibly to others. Unfortunately the majority of us buyers did not have the benefit of patches as the PC users or the ability to edit game codes so any improvement whether you think it insignificant or not is actually an improvement which I believe is much needed. I will continue posting here as I continue testing my tweaks if people want me to otherwise I will just keep them to myself and hopefully turn the game into an even more enjoyable experience instead of putting it in a drawer and hoping the next cricket game or the one after that lives up to all the hype.
I would still be very impressed if you could score 300 in 20 - 30 overs with the settings adjusted the way I have said but we will never find out as you are no longer going to play the game.
Remember it wasn't me who asked for the results to be posted before they were thoroughly tested.
Maybe the guys at Codies could give some direction in which way we should tweak the settings after all they did lie (sorry misinform) us about a patch that they were never going to release.

I dont want you to think im being critical to you because that is not my intention at all, i for one am grateful that you have tryed to improve the game for us ps3 users i guess i was just expecting to much and with this game i should have learned by now not to expect that.
I have given up on test matches but batting on hard as i said before is very enjoyable in one dayers and 20-20s so at least i can get a game i find slightly playable,
So my apologies if it seemed i was being out of line, thanks for trying to help.

why dont you go put another shrimp on the barbie, how is our island you live on isnt the rent due soon.

Our island is great thanks! Beautiful landscape and beaches, good people, tolerant and friendly way of life. Here, you have opportunities to climb the ladder of success despite your gender, nationality of origin, or current wealth.

So much better than some of the stinkholes on Earth where you are discriminated against if you have black skin, a vagina, or no money.

Thank Christ for Australia :)

They are just pissed that their forefathers made the decision to send our forefathers out here in convict ships. We ended up with the beaches and surf, the weather, the beautiful places the great sportsmen and women and they ended up with crap beaches, crap weather, hostile neighbours and the occasional visit to the worst beach in Australia (Bondi) when they have saved up enough.
We should pity them but i'm sure we won't.
Let's put another prawn (we don't have shrimps over here) on the barbie, raise a cold beer and toast the stupidity of the pommy judicial system all those years ago.

We ended up with the beaches(full of sharks, jellyfish and saltwater croc's) and surf(full of bogan"s who think they own it), the weather(high rate's of skin cancer, running out of water and the women resembling Helen Daniels in their 40's due to overexposure to the sun ) the beautiful places(Blacktown,Mount Druitt,Liverpool) the great sportsmen and women( cricket, rugby and swimming only, oh and that bloke that won the speed skating due to everyone else falling over!) and they ended up with crap beaches(agreed), crap weather(proper season's you mean?), hostile neighbours(Cronulla riot's anyone?) and the occasional visit to the worst beach in Australia (Bondi)(think you are talking about the Irish) when they have saved up enough.
We should pity them but i'm sure we won't.
Let's put another prawn (we don't have shrimps over here)(yes you do, ever heard of the Mantis Shrimp to name just one of the species) on the barbie, raise a cold beer(weak and tasteless) and toast the stupidity of the pommy(offensive) judicial system all those years ago.

Done in jest btw, I love living here!!!

You forgot surfing, iron man, sailing, cycling, motor bike racing, V8 supercars, netball, bowls and croc wrestling to name a few.

Luckily for me I don't have any hostile neighbours as I grew up in Cronulla.

Mantis Shrimp ?? is that what we put on the end of our lines to catch bream.

One thing I must say in favour of you poms is that young Sam Burgess sure played a super game of league last night.

"the women resembling Helen Daniels in their 40's due to overexposure to the sun"
I think the poor women may think this offensive although I do tend to agree with you.

Glad you like living here, not many better places in the world.

I like you poms if it wasn't for you guys we wouldn't be here.
