Shame to see India lose and shame to see Sachin get injured. He better bounce back from it.

Truly sensational story mate, loving it :)

Good win for Lanka. This keeps the competition open and interesting. hope to see Sachin back for the next match.

Today I literally slept all day and when I woke up I saw Australia finish the Sri Lankans off and finish their tournament on a down point. Australia kept them to 204-7 in 50 overs with Lee taking 2-58 and Jayerwardne scoring 74. It was apparently an awesome bowling display from the Aussies and left the Sri Lankans in a desperate position. With 205 to win the Aussies were never going to lose.

Australia never looked back after Dave Hussey hit 67 and Hayden 55. Ponting (22) and then Mike Hussey (26*) Gilchrist (31*). The batting was solid and apart from Vaas (1) and Dilshan (2) none of the bowlers even took a wicket. Overall it was Sri Lanka's game and a simple victory over a weak Sri Lankan side. So we play them in a practice and then into the finals. Will we win, I HOPE SO?

I love the banner in the update :clap and the text is good too. Nice to read and well presented. I am sure that India will also beat them. KUTGW :)

good work, the big match is Aus vs Ind and hope sacin xcan return to form

It's better not to take that practice match in a light manner. India need to stay strong through out the series no matter whether they qualified for finals or playing a dummy match. Play and win as team with consistency matters. :)

Great works and storyline till now, freddiw :clap Keep it up!

Great win for Australia. Nice to see the Hussey boys get some runs.

Rain Rain Go Away Come Back Another Day

Today saw rain, rain and more rain as the match before the final was cancelled, Instead we played an indoor match in which I was taken apart by Ojha and Kumble when bowling and then managed to score -10 with Sreesanth in our partnership due to him being cleaned up time after time. The pairing had a small error as Dravid and Sehwag finished togethor and got 71 from their 5 overs but went for over 90 when bowling!!! Overall good fun and I found out I am fully fit from now and can play in the first of the three finals here in Sydney. I am really looking forward to it and although the limelight will be on Gilly because of retirement I hope I can finish against Australia with a bang.

Depressing rain but a fun day

The IPL is in my mind again and I rang the owner of Mumbai and told him to keep me down as a maybe as I think it may be the right choice. With such a large build up im thinking it may be a great oppurtunity and would love to represent Mumbai, I still am not sure but hope I can make a decision soon.

After a long break from playing I was slightly worried coming up to this huge final and when we arrived I began to get very nervous. The team were keyed up and going into the match I knew we were almost defiantly favourites to come out on top. This however means nothing and the side that plays better takes the glory so lets just hope its us. The pitch was looking good and after the rains I was surprised how hard and flat it was, the outfield was going to be fast and it was going to be a dream to bat on. Mahendra was planning to bat if we won the toss and Chappell, Dravid and I agreed that if we win the toss we bat first, especially playing three spinners. With 20 minutes to go to the toss we all went out onto the pitch and did some fielding drills, I caught prity much everything and after the morning in the nets felt 100% going into this match. Ojha seemed very confident ahead of the match and was all smiles when he took a low stunner hit by Rahul.

Lets hope this match goes as well as I feel it will

Mahendra went out for the toss and As he did I grabbed a sheet that had the teams and captains on it. With Gilchrist playing in what could be his second last ODI match the limelight was going to be given to him and to me it doesn?t matter, he is an incredible player and has changed the batting/keeper position as it is known today. He has forced all countries to change their description of the roles. The teams were as expected with the only surprise for the Aussie?s being Lee dropped and both Hopes and Hogg in. Our side see?s a change in the order that was only expected with Laxman at 3, Dravid at 4 and Sehwag at 5. The bowling in my eyes is very strong with Khan playing his first of the series but 3 spinners strengthening the side. I am thinking that 300+ is a par score and if we bat first we want to score big and fast.

Well we are going to have what could be a tough 50 overs with Mahendra losing the toss and Ricky choosing to bat. With Hayden and D. Hussey opening the first 10 overs are going to be very important and I can see .Sreesanth playing a vital role and hopefully he will bowl better than he has so far in the series. We all went to the dressing room and were planning to look to take early wickets and then use the spinners to bowl through the overs fast and keep the run rate down. Whether or not Hussey and Hayden choose to attack or not time will only tell but to be honest I can see us chasing anything under 325.

We need the goods from Sreesanth with the new ball

Well Sreesanth has been raring in for the last 10 overs and has been incredibly unlucky. Twice has the ball been edged through the slips, four times has he beaten the edge and hit the pads on the one occasion. He has been raring through and after 7 overs Hussey went forward to a length one that shaped and left him heading back to the pavilion for only 11 and brining the skipper in. Now after 10 overs the score is 37-1 the pitch is doing nothing and yet Sreesanth was on top with the ball. With the limelight on Sreesanth, Khan didn?t get a mention with 15-0 from 5 and bowling perfect lines.

If Australia are to get a big score then Ponting will have to play a captains knock

Well the last 20 overs have been honestly shocking with Hayden batting amazingly with 72 from 76 hitting the ball to all ends of the park. Ponting hit 43 from 53 before getting the edge off Ojha?s bowling. Hayden and Ricky put on 100 batting amazingly really taking the attack and ticking over the singles when I honestly thought it was suicide. Eventually Hayden got carried away and skied deep to Khan off the bowling of Kumble. Then Ponting Went forward to a turner from Ojha and knicked the ball to Mahendra. Both spinners were attacked and Ojha (51-1) and Kumble (61-1) both went for over 10 an over and now with 20 overs left we need to get rid of Symonds before he can take too much of an attack to us.

Hayden puts us on the backfoot with a classy 50

What a 20 overs, Sreesanth was incredible taking 5-33 from his 10 overs and destroying the Australian middle and lower order. Apart from Glchrist hitting 45* from 53 no-one from 4-11 hit over 40 and the last four batsmen fell for ducks with Sreesanth almost taking a hat-rick with an amazing 3 wickets in 4 balls. With 247 to win I can see it happening. The Indian side are very confident here and we are planning to go big quickly and I am looking to try to quickly assault the Australian new ball bowlers. Ganguly will join me and the whole side will be looking to get on top in what should hopefully be a very easy run-chase.

Awesome bowling from Sreesanth sees Aussie?s lose 5 wickets for 11 runs

My first 27 balls went well taking the attack and ticking the runs over well. I felt comfortable and was playing both Bracken and Lee without trouble and feeling prity confident. Bracken was moving the ball about a bit but not causing trouble and so when I went forward to Bracken who was coming round the wicket and the ball swung late into my pads I knew it was going down the leg-side. When they all appealed I looked up expecting the umpire to shake his head, but he did not. They began to go crazy and the finger was up. When I got back to the dressing room I looked at the Hawkeye and with the score on 79-1 from 10.3 I was only slightly frustrated.

A disappointing decision

Well its game set and match and a fabulous win for the Indians with Ganguly scoring an amzing 100 from 87 balls taking the game away from the Aussies and putting on 106 with Laxman (71) in quick time and together they put us into a position were victory was inevitable. We finished with Dravid and Sehwag scoring the winning runs and the balcony just went crazy. Even though I got a poor decision I went crazy and now 1-0 to Australia we could take the series in the next final. I am so pumped now and it was an awesome day of cricket. The fans went crazy and although the Australians were not happy Ponting popped into the changing room and congratulated Ganguly on his 100 and Sreesanth on 5 wickets. It was a fabulous day and I just hope we can take it into the next ODI.
