'Ultimate' AI Patch by sid_19840

1)The major issue i.e the fielding bug has been reduced, although it still
exists. It seems the bug can't be totally remove by editing the AI but
misfielding has become a lot more rare especially in ODI's.

2)Proper timing of power shots pays a lot more dividence as ball's may
clear the rope(if timed properly) and you won't see the long-on and long-off
fielders always catching power shots as originally.

3)On the other hand ball's not meant to be hit can be caught in the infield
itself if power-shots are tried. So its a fine balance.

4)Other aspects have been greatly improved such as autoplay scores, cpu batting and
bowling and a load more.

Ultimate AI v1.2

Changes from v1.0
------------------
1)Favours Intermediate players:Suited to intermediate players who like
piercing the fields for boundaries.

2)Shots tweaked:Shots like,cover drive,straight drive,pull,and other
shots have been tweaked for optimum performance.

3)AI pacing:The CPU while changing innings paces its innings according
to the target. For those who want to use this feature, they can choose to
change the three files provided inside accordingly from the sub-zip files,
for those who want to save themselves from this can use the default
pacing files which are present in the main zipfile.

4)Challenging yet easy:A special feature has been added where six hit
shots particularly through the leg side,if timed properly may even
clear the ropes but if timed slightly incorrectly may end up being
caught.

5)Customised fields for odi's:A special customised set of fields have
been used directly from the fields used in real cricket matches where
the cpu(and user) sets his fields according to the game situation.
Also major bug corrected is that in the first fifteen overs there are
always two catching fielders.

6)Other small changes.

Installation:Install the two .big files to your cricket 2005 root
directory. For those who want to use the seperate cpu pacing.Install
them to your root directory according to the situation.

ODI Fields-Use Field Editor v1.1 to import the fields.

Looking like a good patch. Why not you go for full release.I mean in all modes and also tweak the shots like BF shots.Making 4 hit shots more playable and keeping 6 hit shots risky will be good idea.

why is everybody making the game even harder... it should be made easier, like the CPU controlled fielders should be made slower... cause right now the majority of the runs can only be gotten through boundries

Hi all

Thanks for your positive replies.Well ive not yet found a way to slow the pace of the fielders as ksduded wants, but ive slowed down the ball's pace and in my testing so far ive played about 8 odi matches of 10/20 & 50 overs. In there ive tried playing all types of shots and bowling different length's but there has been only a single occasion where the ball went through the fielder that too a bangladesh fielder. So in my v1.0 patch u wont completely see the fielders stopping all the ball's but misfield's have been a bit more rare.

Latest news on 1.0 patch
1)Any balls other than half-volleys are difficult to hit over the infield.
2)Ive already updated the three difficulty level's(easy/medium/hard)for ODI but not yet for test's
3)CPU pacing for 10/20/45/50 overs has been updated.

So after testing some more and tweaking the test a.i ill release the 1.0 patch(probably about 5-6 days).Shot editing will not be done in this version, but yet the patch will be a great one. After your feedback's on playing the 1.0 patch ill think about shot editing and changing cpu field placements.

Hope you are waiting for my ai patch and keep your comments updated and for now try out the beta patch.

You should also try to include more swing ,seam and pace of fast bowlers in hard mode atleast.

1) is a good one.
i reckon balls that are there to be smacked should be easy to smack to, an extent. i mean slogging a really bad ball shouldn't be as risky as slogging, say, a short one. they shouldnt pop up into the infield, but into the outfield, so the batsman can take on the boundary fielders, but if there is no fielder, as is less likely in the infield, he gets four.

Thanks hero.ill look into your suggestion.Meanwhile i'm posting my latest observation's after some more testing:

1)Gameplay has not been made too hard(as it is unrealistic).Half Volleys or even good length balls if timed correctly can clear the rope, meaning it can be usefull in the slog overs and close situation's(eg during testing i needed 6 of 1 ball in medium level and i pulled it off). But overdoing it could lead to a fall of wickets(went down about 40/5 in another match).

2)Misfield's seem to mainly(or only) occur in mid-on.I'm trying to sort the problem at that position. The good news is that it has never happened at any other position during all my testing and not very often at mid-on either so its a good sign.

3)The Autoplay feature has also been tried and is looking good(scores of about 90 in 10 overs,170 in 20 and 265 in 50 overs are coming at an average which is abt same as in real life cricket).

Keep me updated with your views.

Good work.Keep it up.I think there should be chance of slogging but not in such way that you can hit every second ball for 6.However,if your confidence is high and you ball is not good then your shot should go all the way.No problem in it or aggresive hiters should be able to do so.But in hard mode it should be more difficult to just hit 6s and 4s.The player who want more free hiting option,an easy or normal mode can be tweaked for them or may be a seprate patch for easy batting.Besides ,some backfoot shots like pull shot and back foot shots needed to be tweaked .These shots needs more power.
