Slumdog Millionaire

First time I've ever watched it and I wasn't a fan. Don't see why everyone went on about it

Is it like those typical Indian love/romance films. j/k.

Whats the go with that chick in the movie poster along with what I presume is the main character. Did they somehow end up breaking up, reclaim their relationship over time and end up making it official that their a couple by kissing and dancing in the rain ?

There is a vast difference between the rich, the working class and the poor.Even my Indian friend tells me that there is a lot of internal racism in India which is worse than anything we see between even different nations.I found this movie to be rather decent but not great as many have said.Danny Boyle has always been a great director and it was certainly a lot more realistic as it was taken by a person who was not an Indian. The reason why I am saying this is because he would have been able to look at things in a fresh perspective and thats what made the movie appealing to the Oscar jury.Anyway I feel this movie is a touch overrated...Many movies were a lot better...The Wrestler,Revolutionary Road,Curious Case of Benjamin Button,The Dark Knight,In Bruges and even Tropic Thunder are just of the many that I liked...

It is not a masterpiece by any means but it is certainly worth watching if you are planning to visit India in the near future....

After watching that Indian Michael Jackson video , I don't think I'll watch another Indian movie for a while.

Some slums don't make up the whole India. And besides, have you ever looked at the positive side of things? I doubt so. Take a look at this pic:

All of them are in Mumbai. And BTW, I don't think Google is just for searching how many slums we have, or how many people here live below poverty line. I think it has better uses. Yeah, there are slums, many of them, (and I fully blame our govt and those corrupted officials for not being able to solve this problem) but that is not the only thing about India. Neither is it such, that we are the only country having this problem.

@hmarka :-

India's Population : 1,147,995,904
England's Population : 60,943,912

providing homes to such an abundant population is an enormous task.....

ok thanks for the Wikipedia lesson, I still fail to see how this relates to the topic on hand.

Taking into account its only been 62 years since we were sucked off our wealth, I'd say its even more enormous to pull it off in such a short time.

Adding something about Slumdog millionaire, I think the only reason it got hit is because it supposedly "expose" poverty in India when all have been knowing about it beforehand. I personally never found anything groundbreaking in the movie.

Talking about that Michael Jackson's thriller, I don't really see why on earth can't you guys make a difference between an obviously mimicked for comedy purposes [Whether or not funny is debatable] and some professionally made movie. Hmarka, the more I read your posts the more I get the feeling that now a days you just jump around any news concering India.

Why yes, it has been a lovely summer. Thank you, and I will enjoy my cuppa.

Whats with this arguing. I've not seen the film, but I am aware of the poverty and slums in that part of the world.

Yes, its an achievement to have such structures in places where there's not much money, and yes its tragic that people have to live in such poverty, but its no different to Brazil and other such places where they live in exactly the same way.

I think hmarka and you boys should learn to get along.
